We know that personal development is fundamental to the success of every individual and invest in our employees.\nWhen you are part of Magellan, you are part of the team!\nPosition Summary:\nMagellan Aerospace has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time permanent Special Process/ Quality Systems Internal Audit Lead at our division Magellan Aerospace Processing, West Babylon, New York 11704.\nShift Time: Monday - Friday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM\nCompensation Range(Based on qualifications): $75,000 - $95,000.\n\nEssential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:\nDevelop, maintain, and execute the site internal audit program for Nadcap special processes, AS9100, ISO 14001, customer approvals, and corporate compliance requirements.\nCreate and maintain a risk-based annual audit schedule covering Chemical Processing, NDT, Shot Peen, Coatings, Lab, Maintenance, Quality, Environmental, Planning, Purchasing, Shipping/Receiving, and support functions.\nLead process-based audits using live shop-floor observation, job audits, operator interviews, procedure verification, traveler review, and objective evidence review.\nVerify that customer and specification requirements are accurately flowed down into procedures, travelers, inspection records, lab controls, periodic testing, and operator instructions.\nBuild and maintain a trained internal auditor pool using cross-functional team of technical leads, functional leads, Quality personnel, Continuous Improvement personnel, and process owners.\nAssign auditors based on independence, competence, process knowledge, and risk.\nMaintain auditor training, competency, qualification, and refresher records.\nSupport external audits by Nadcap/PRI, AS9100 registrar, ISO 14001 registrar, customers, regulatory bodies, and corporate audit teams.\nDocument internal audit findings clearly, issue CARs/NCRs, and ensure timely containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness verification.\nVerify corrective actions through objective evidence, including live job audits, record reviews, operator interviews, and process-control checks.\nTrack audit findings to closure and escalate overdue, repeat, systemic, or product-impact issues to leadership.\nMonitor audit program KPIs, including audit completion, overdue findings, repeat findings, escape findings, effectiveness verification, and audit readiness.\nSupport Management Review with audit trends, systemic risks, compliance health, and improvement recommendations.\nPromote a culture of compliance, integrity, audit readiness, and process discipline across the shop floor and support functions.\nIdentify opportunities to improve procedures, forms, checklists, training, process controls, and compliance systems.\nMaintain strong engagement with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Lab, Maintenance, Environmental, and Customer Quality teams to prevent repeat audit findings.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\nAssociate degree or technical diploma in engineering, quality, manufacturing, environmental, or related technical discipline; bachelor’s degree preferred.\nMinimum 5 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, special processes, quality systems, process control, internal auditing, or compliance.\nWorking knowledge of AS9100, Nadcap, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, customer specifications, and internal audit principles.\nExperience conducting process audits, job audits, layered audits, or special-process audits in a manufacturing environment.\nStrong ability to read and interpret procedures, specifications, travelers, test records, inspection records, and corrective action documentation.\nStrong communication skills with the ability to engage shop-floor employees, supervisors, managers, and external auditors.\nStrong follow-up discipline and ability to drive closure of corrective actions across functions.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nAS9100 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training.\nNadcap audit experience in Chemical Processing, NDT, Coatings, Shot Peen, or related special processes.\nISO 14001 Internal Auditor training.\nISO 19011 audit-methodology training.\nASQ CQA, CQE, CQT, or Six Sigma certification.\nExperience with RCCA, 5-Why, fishbone, mistake-proofing, corrective action effectiveness verification, and Management Review.\nPerks and Benefits:\nCompetitive compensation\nMedical, Dental, Vision and 401K Benefits\nExcellent career progression opportunities\nCommitment to professional growth\nCompany social events including Company BBQ, winter holiday party and other team building\nFree Parking\nMagellan Aerospace is committed to an inclusive working environment and equal opportunities for all.
