We know that personal development is fundamental to the success of every individual and invest in our employees.\nWhen you are part of Magellan, you are part of the team!\nPosition Summary\nThe Tool Designer will be responsible for tool designs to facilitate production processes that meet the requirements of customer drawings, models and customer specifications in accordance with company and departmental work instructions, ensuring that the design intent and component quality is achieved. The position requires the use of CAD software to develop the tool models and assemblies.\nPosition Responsibilities\nDesigns tools, together with special equipment and machines.\nModifies existing tooling, assembles tooling from manufactured and purchased parts.\nProvides advice and guidance to the department and externally to the Manufacturing Engineering team, NC Programming, Facilities, Estimators, and Tool & Die Makers.\nCoordinates the design of a suite of tooling to ensure the correct transfer of datum, tolerances and registers throughout the suite.\nParticipates in the research and development of new tools, or modification of existing tooling to improve the manufacturing process.\nPosition Requirements\nStrong background in designing fixtures, dies, and jigs.\nIn-depth knowledge of press work, machine shop, assembly practices and continuous improvements efforts related to the processes is essential.\nDemonstrated ability using CAD systems related to design.\nExperience utilizing the Siemens NX software and / or Catia V5 will be considered an asset.\nCompletion of a Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma or Mechanical Engineering degree together with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.\nAbility to use manufacturing equipment (mill, lathe, etc.) will be considered an asset.\nWhy Magellan?\nCompetitive salary\nAttractive benefit package\nGenerous company pension plan\nExcellent career progression opportunities\nEmployee assistance plan\nOn-site parking, cafeteria and gym\nMagellan Aerospace is committed to an inclusive working environment and equal opportunities for all.
