With 65+ years of expertise, our ecosystem of interconnected products combined with our complete vehicle expertise uniquely positions us to advance mobility in an expanded transportation landscape.\nJob Responsibilities:\nJob Introduction:\nMagna Corporate R&D in Troy, MI is seeking a talented, visionary, and self-motivated AI Engineer to be a part of the Factory of the Future Vision & Data Analytics Group, which will create new applications leveraging data analytics, AI and ML to improve overall efficiencies at Magna divisions. The ideal candidate will have broad and deep experience with theoretical approaches and practical implementations of data analytics, AI and ML methods, machine vision and deployment frameworks. They will understand the process of concept, design, build, and launch of these applications and the reporting process to various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a culture that fosters creativity and problem solving. This position will play a key role in the Data Analytics Group and be a part of a tightly knit development team that creates, validates, and implements Factory of the Future solutions.\nMajor Responsibilities:\nSupport the development and implementation of short- and long-term R&D objectives and technology roadmaps. \nConduct research programs applying theory and principles of data analytics, AI and ML and machine vision. Guide programs and establish scientific and technical directions.\nContribute to the development of novel algorithms and technology platforms, as well as the integration of systems & subsystems with different technologies and apply them internally at Magna divisions.\nInterface with SW engineering, product management, and/or program management to drive new product development programs from concept to production.\nUtilize software development and process tools for requirements management, architecture and design, modeling, simulation, testing, and configuration management and release management.\nMaintain project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities and sub-contracted work, estimating timing needs and hurdles, sequencing project elements, and resolving problems, thus assuring timely completion. Prepare and present project progress reports.\nPursue education and/or training in data analytics and simulation technologies as fields evolve. Keep the organization abreast of program developments, new technical methods, and recommended changes warranted by such developments. Apply updated information to the Data Analytics Technology roadmap. \nAnalyze research, third-party offerings, and competitor’s technologies to determine feasibility for Magna use.\nComply with the designated ISO / TS 16949 responsibilities, Health & Safety (H&S) rules and practices, and Magna policies, procedures, and practices. \nPerform any other duties, special projects, and tasks as assigned\nKnowledge and Education:\nBS/MS/PhD in electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, computer science or equivalent progressive experience in discipline with appropriate focus\nAdvanced knowledge of Python, SQL and other common programming languages\nUnderstanding of ROS/ROS2 & robotics frameworks\nExperience with AWS, Azure environment and tools for data ingestion, cleaning, processing, deployment and monitoring\nFamiliar with ML frameworks and popular packages such as Caret (R), Scikitlearn, TensorFlow, Flask (Python), Docker, Git, \nExperience with model deployment as API (REST/SOAP) and configuration of the API\nFamiliar with MLops tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, TFX, etc\nExperience with tools and data ingestion protocols - MQTT, OPC, etc; \nExperience with machine vision tools, libraries and methods\nExperience with PowerBI, Tableau, Grafana for visualization and BI\nKnowledge of Manufacturing Process, Assembly methods and materials used in automotive products\nWork Experience:\nMinimum 2-3 years in a related area, or equivalent combination of education/experience in the field of applied machine learning, AI, computer engineering or similar\nFunctional knowledge of data analytics in a manufacturing environment\nFunctional experience working with static and dynamic, structured and unstructured data in manufacturing environment\nExperience with industrial control systems, specifically automotive line control applications\nUnderstanding of Magna manufacturing and assembly processes\nSkills and Competencies:\nStrong spoken and written English language skills. Additional languages skills desired (German, Spanish, etc.)\nAbility to apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts, and contribute to the development of solutions to complex problems that require innovation and ingenuity\nAbility to recognize new science and technologies relevant within existing trends and business strategy and extend them into new applications\nTechnical ability and creativity to initiate, and manage specific projects with diverse stakeholders\nAbility to contribute to a performing team\nWork Environment:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and use hands to finger, handle, and feel.
