Because we believe that your career path should be as unique as you are.\nGroup Summary:\nThe Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.\nRecognized globally as an innovator in all aspects of vehicle exteriors, Magna provides everything needed, from materials development and design through manufacturing and assembly, to help automakers create sleek, state-of-the-art vehicles across the world.\nJob Responsibilities:\nAssists in the design of control solutions including both hardware and software. Writes data specifications, operators manuals and acceptance test plans. Installs and troubleshoots mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic components on electrical equipment.\nKEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:\nInstallation & Maintenance of Control Systems:Install, calibrate, and maintain PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems, HMI (Human-Machine Interfaces), robotics, and electrical control panels. \nEnsure proper functioning of sensors, actuators, motors, and drives in automated production systems.\n\nTroubleshooting & Repairs:Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and control system malfunctions.\nUse multimeters, oscilloscopes, and PLC software (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron) for fault-finding.\n\nProgramming & Optimization:Modify and optimize PLC ladder logic, structured text, or function block programming. \nAssist in robot programming.\n\nPreventive Maintenance & Compliance:Perform scheduled inspections to prevent equipment failures.\nEnsure compliance with safety standards (OSHA, ISO, IEC, CSA) and Magna’s internal protocols. \n\nCollaboration with Engineering Teams: Work with process engineers and production teams to improve automation processes.\nAssist in new equipment integration and continuous improvement (Kaizen) projects.\nWork with 3rd party vendors on communication projects\nWork to improve automation and develop state of the art technologies\n\nDocumentation & Reporting:Maintain logs of maintenance activities, modifications, and system changes. \nUpdate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). \n\nSupport Production Operations: Respond to breakdowns and minimize downtime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. \nTrain operators on basic control system functions.\nTrain and provide guidance to CET apprentices \nEnsure, with the cooperation of other Co-Ex-Tec departments and Corporate that the division achieves and maintains the highest possible Customer rating for satisfaction; strive for zero defects in all areas of the business.\n\nEnsure compliance and enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements, QMS (IATF16949), Health and Safety (ISO 45001), EMS (ISO14001), and security (PIP) requirements.\nPerform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.\nPromote and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices and the observance of protective equipment requirements at all times.\nAttend authorized training in order to develop and/or maintain relevant job-related knowledge, techniques, skills, and/or certification.\nMay be required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature.\nPerform any other reasonable duty as required or assigned by Management\nEDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:\nDegree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering\nCertified Electrician, an asset\nMinimum 3 Years of experience in Electrical / Controls Design and Programmable Logic Controllers / Human Machine Interface Programming (PLC / HMI) / Vision Systems / Robot programming and troubleshooting including debugging, testing and commissioning.
