Dream big and create the future of mobility at Magna Powertrain.\nJob Responsibilities:\nAbout the Role\nMagna Powertrain is seeking aSenior Data Scientist to drive data-driven decision-making across manufacturing and engineering operations. In this role, you will leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling to optimize production processes, improve product quality, and support digital transformation initiatives within our plant in Ramos Arizpe.\nThis is a high-impact position that collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, engineering, and IT.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and deploy machine learning models to optimize manufacturing processes, predictive maintenance, and quality control.\n\nAnalyze large-scale structured and unstructured datasets from production systems (MES, ERP, IoT sensors).\n\nDesign and implementdata pipelines and feature engineering workflows for industrial data.\n\nIdentify patterns, trends, and root causes to support continuous improvementof business processes.\n\nBuild dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders (Power BI, Tableau,Grafana,etc.).\n\nCollaborate with engineering teams to integrate analytics solutions into production environments.\n\nLead experimentation and hypothesis testing to improve operational efficiency.\n\nMentor junior data scientists and analysts, promoting best practices in analytics and coding.\n\nEnsure data governance, quality, and compliance with company standards.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor’s or master’s degree (PhD preferred) inData Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or relatedfield.\n\n5+ years of experience in data science, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments.\n\nStrong proficiency in Python or R and experience with ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow,PyTorch,Jupyter).\n\nExperience working with SQL databases and big data tools (e.g., Spark is a plus).\n\nHands-on experience withtime-series analysis, predictive modeling, and optimization.\n\nFamiliarity with manufacturing systems (MES, PLC data, IoT platforms) is highly desirable.\n\nExperience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Grafana).\n\nExperience with data engineering(Databricks, Microsoft Fabric), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and deployment pipelines\n\nSolid understanding of statistics, A/B testing, and experimental design.\n\nStrong communication skills with the ability to translate complex insights into business value.\n\nFluent in Spanish (mandatory) and professional working proficiency in English\n\nPreferred Skills\nExperience inautomotive or Tier 1 supplier environments.\n\nKnowledge ofIndustry 4.0, smart factory, and digital twin concepts.\n\nBackground inMLOpsand model deployment in production environments.\n\nAwareness, Unity, Empowerment:\nAt Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
