As a global automotive supplier and full-system partner, Magna brings together expertise across Mechatronics and Mirror systems to deliver integrated solutions that support the evolution of vehicle architectures.\nJob Responsibilities:\nJOB SUMMARY:\nProvides technical support for manufacturing. Work pertains to production processes in molding and all secondary process operations in molding. Assignments may be varied and not completely standardized or prescribed.\nESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPerforms start-up and shut-down of plastic injection molding machines and ensures that all sub systems (i.e., water, materials, heaters, robots, etc.) are operational.\nDebugs and troubleshoots injection molding process problems for new or existing products to continuously improve part quality and yields.\nMakes adjustments within process parameters and recommends any changes for improved efficiencies to the Sr. Process Engineer or department managers. This includes but is not limited to tool modifications, robotics, and injection molding machine process changes.\nAdjusts process parameters when needed and notifies appropriate resources. Properly documents any changes made out of tolerance.\nDevelops and documents standardized processes for various operations.\nConducts and plans various tests and experiments which may require minor modifications in equipment setup and/or process parameters. Analyzes data and reports results.\nCommunicates and works closely with all areas of Engineering, Quality, Materials and Operations.\nLeads in the development and implementation of lean manufacturing.\nTrains associates on equipment, molds, processes and support equipment.\nBuilds samples as requested and coordinates all required testing, paperwork, and delivery.\nAttends and participates in regular work team meetings.\nMaintain a high departmental standard for housekeeping in your area.\nFollows procedures pertaining to safety which includes prescribed lock out procedures when working on equipment to prevent injury\nEnsure proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous and regulated wastes including used oil and aerosol can waste.\nPerform other duties as required.\nUnderstand your responsibility for health and safety in the workplace. Cooperate with OSHA inspectors. Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. Follow all safety rules. Report unsafe conditions immediately. Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, property damage immediately. Will not remove or make ineffective any protective device such as a guard, light curtain, etc. Will not use or operate any machine or equipment that the employee is not trained to operate. Will not use or operate any machine or equipment in a manner that may endanger any employee including themselves.\nUnderstand your responsibility for health and safety in the workplace. Provide an employee with written instructions of the measures and procedures required to protect the employee. Advise the employee of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the employee of which the supervisor is aware. Understand your responsibility for visitors and general public health and safety in the workplace. Cooperate with OSHA inspectors. Do not allow discrimination against employees who properly exercise their right under OSHA. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set a good example. Ensure that employees wear the appropriate protective devices. Understand the importance of conformance with all environmental procedures of the environmental management system, including emergency response. Understand the EMS consequences, actual or potential, of their work activities and/or their behaviors from specified work instructions.\nUnderstands and follows existing Magna policies, procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements.\nREQUIREMENTS:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nLevel I\nAn associate degree in plastics technology is preferred; or a minimum of three years’ experience in processing thermoplastics and a documented commitment to professional self-improvement.\nA solid understanding of SPC concepts and practice.\nExcellent interpersonal/team skills with strong written and verbal skills.\nPrevious training experience.\nPrevious experience solving problems and making continuous improvements without direct supervision.\nWillingness to advance skills through on-the-job training and additional schooling.\nLevel II, (in addition to above)\nAn AA degree in plastics technology and a minimum of three years’ experience in a closely related field; or a minimum of seven years’ experience in processing thermoplastics and a documented commitment to professional self-improvement.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMust be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.\nMust be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.\nMust maintain proper vision requirements\nMust be able to maintain alertness to their surroundings.\nMust have a current and valid Driver’s License.\nMust have working knowledge of English\nAwareness, Unity, Empowerment:\nAt Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
