Because we believe that your career path should be as unique as you are.\nGroup Summary:\nThe Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.\nRecognized globally as an innovator in all aspects of vehicle exteriors, Magna provides everything needed, from materials development and design through manufacturing and assembly, to help automakers create sleek, state-of-the-art vehicles across the world.\nJob Responsibilities:\nSpecific Job Duties\nResponsible for the overall production output in assigned area by ensuring assigned employees are performing their assigned duties.\nMaintains positive employee relations within department, including follows up on employee concerns / suggestions; resolves conflict situations; interprets and administers employee related policies.\nPromotes and supports the Open Door Policy\nMotivates direct reports to perform their work with a high degree of quality and productivity.\nEnsures direct reports’ compliance with all safety, quality, environmental and BOS policies and procedures. Performs audits as required.\nEnsures employees receive the necessary training to perform their jobs, keeping them informed of any changes or new requirements.\nAssists direct reports by coaching and counseling employees as necessary per company policies.\nConducts performance appraisals on direct reports in a timely manner. \nApplies disciplinary actions as necessary. Ensures fair and consistent treatment of employees.\nMaintains attendance records and approves time sheets. Approves vacation schedules.\nProvides support to employees in all technical functions of the department. \nContributes to a healthy, positive and safe work environment\nMaintains an acceptable attendance record.\nPromotes the maintenance of a clean and safe work area.\nMaintains and completes all appropriate production reporting and documentation of activities as required.\nConducts department meetings and ensures documentation is recorded and maintained.\nComplete daily EOS reports and document communications for next shift.\nReview equipment readiness, material supply conditions and other assigned activities at end of shift.\nLeads and / or assists Task Forces, Launch Teams and Safety and Quality 8D Teams.\nImplements lateral moves, postings, layoffs and recalls in department as needed.\nSubmits and implements cost reduction ideas and innovations and encourages direct reports to participate as well.\nCompletes maintenance work orders and purchase orders. \nWrites department procedures.\nAny other duties as assigned.\nSupervises: Technicians (various levels), Forklift Operators, Material Handlers, General Production Workers, etc.\n Skills/Experience Required\nRequired: 2 - 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.\nPreferred: 2 years' experience in a related manufacturing process. Previous Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.\nExcellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills (verbal and written). \nMust have good problem solving skills and planning and scheduling ability. \nWillingness to work weekends and overtime on short notice, or alternate shifts as required.\nMust have good math skills. Must have good computer skills.\nMust have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.\nMust be able to make decisions in a timely manner. Must remain calm in fast-paced/quickly changing environment.\nMust have the ability to make group presentations.\nEducational Requirements\nRequired: High School diploma or GED\nPreferred: Associates degree\nPhysical Requirements\nMust be able to at least meet the physical demands as defined by the current production requirements and the job function evaluation. See job function evaluation in the Occupational Nurse’s office for more details.\nManufacturing environment using normal PPE and safety precautions.
