In the Body In White (BIW) discipline, the Senior Engineer is responsible to lead the engineering activities relating to the design and development of the vehicle BIW system. This position has a high level of responsibility and visibility and will interface with OEMs, Magna divisions, global module group teams and Tier 2 suppliers.\nYOUR RESPONSIBILITIES\nTechnical Responsibility\nContribute to the Global Technical Area (GTA) strategy and growth of the engineering team\nSupport Technical Area (TA) core competencies \nSupport and contribute to knowledge base of internal and external best practices\nLead benchmarking studies and contribute to the benchmark knowledgebase\nPropose and lead advanced development topics supporting the GTA\nPropose continuous improvement opportunities to level up team skills, qualifications, tools and processes\nLead design proposals with set based engineering principles\nLead designs with 6 Sigma design principles\nSupport complex problem solving with cross functional teams\nWHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR\nProject Planning, Target Achievement, Monitoring & Reporting\nEmploy technical expertise to lead the engineering development of one or more subsystems\nSupport the project team(s) engineering in achieving project objectives, performance and cost requirements, and timing milestones\nLead external support, services and resources supporting the project engineering development\nSupport work development packages assigned to third parties\nConfirm OEM and magna project performance targets and assure the targets are achievable\nConfirm OEM and magna project cost and timing targets and assure the targets are achievable\nSupport the Project Manager (PM) and contribute to the project resource planning, budget development, and status reporting \nBe responsible for the release of Computer Aided Design (CAD) data into internal and external sites\nBe responsible for the release of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), simulations and studies into internal or external sites\nBe responsible for designs capable of meeting the serial production tact, First Time Quality (FTQ) and ergo targets\nBe responsible for designs meeting the project performance and cost targets \nBe responsible for designs meeting market region regulations, FMVSS, ECE, CNCA/GB, etc.\nConfirm the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) comprehends all project targets and is complete\nConfirm the project Design Failure Mode and Effects and Analysis (DFMEA) comprehends all product risks and product usage cases\nProject Related Interface\nSupport and Promote Project and Operations Collaboration \nLead global development touchpoint and milestone meetings \nCollaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to assure production feasibility\nCollaborate with the Design Studio to assure product appearance harmony\nCollaborate with all cross functions to make complex decisions\nCollaborate with the other project GTAs Employee Related Tasks Ensure cooperation with all areas within the engineering and request the required frame conditions\nEnsure cooperation with project management\nEnsure cooperation with all other groups within the area\nSecure knowledge of development tools within the group\nEnsure training of employees according to the required skills\nCooperation with all Magna Steyr locations\nEscalation problems at the earliest time with the appropriate team members\nYOUR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
