Join us in advancing and shaping the future of mobility.\nJob Responsibilities:\nMagna New Mobility is building the Unified Factory Platform, a scalable, cloud-native software ecosystem powering manufacturing applications across 120+ global plants.\nWe are seeking a Senior Manager of Software Development to lead the Core Platform organization responsible for foundational services, infrastructure, data architecture, APIs, and platform scalability across all Unified Factory applications.\nThis is a senior technical leadership role accountable for long-term platform architecture, engineering excellence, organizational development, and operational performance at enterprise scale.\nWhat you will be doing in this role:\nTechnical Vision & Architecture\nDefine and own the long-term technical strategy.\nEnsure scalability, reliability, and security across multi-plant global deployments.\nDrive architecture decisions across distributed systems, IoT integration, event-driven services, and data pipelines.\nEstablish platform standards for APIs, observability, and infrastructure automation.\nPartner with Product and Hardware teams to enable rapid application development on shared services.\nOrganizational Leadership:\nBuild and lead multiple engineering teams (managers and individual contributors).\nHire, develop, and coach engineering leaders.\nCreate mechanisms for high-quality execution, strong design reviews, and operational rigor.\nSet a high bar for engineering talent and performance management.\nOperational Excellence:\nOwn uptime, performance SLAs, security posture, and deployment velocity.\nDrive root cause analysis and long-term corrective actions.\nImplement measurable KPIs around reliability, latency, scalability, and cost efficiency.\nLead through metrics and establish data-driven decision making.\nCross-Functional Influence:\nPartner with Product, Deployment, Customer Success, and Executive Leadership to align platform roadmap with business priorities.\nCommunicate technical strategy to VP-level stakeholders.\nInfluence hardware integration standards (AMR, forklift IoT, PLC systems).\nEnsure GDPR and global compliance requirements are met across regions.\nLong-Term Platform Strategy:\nDrive multi-year technical roadmap aligned to business plan growth trajectory.\nReduce duplication across application(s) through shared services.\nDesign for external commercialization and SaaS scalability.\nWhat you should bring to this role:\nBachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field required, Masters Degree preferred\n12+ years of experience in software engineering required\n2+ years leading managers of engineers preferred\nExperience owning large-scale distributed systems or platform organizations required\nDemonstrated ability to define and execute multi-year technical strategy required\nExperience operating cloud-native systems (AWS preferred) required\nStrong experience with APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, and DevOps best practices required\nExperience leading IoT-connected systems or industrial automation platforms\nExperience scaling SaaS products across global enterprise customers\nBackground in high-availability systems with real-time constraints\nStrong understanding of data architecture and analytics platforms\nExperience influencing executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams\nHiring Base Salary Range: $145,000 - $185,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).In addition to base salary, some positions are eligible for an annual performance based bonus.\nAwareness, Unity, Empowerment:\nAt Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
