The SeniorTooling Engineer is responsible to manage & support Structural & Mechansims Tooling Engineers on all tooling and tooling build timelines (Tool Tracker/TLDB) to ensure consistently high-quality components are produced on time and cost effectively for all North America Structural & Mechanisms Product Divisions. The Senior Tooling Engineer is expected to ensure the most up to date technologies are utilized to continuously improve our product, meeting our customer’s expectations and promote innovations, continuous improvements to all Structural Product divisions. The Senior Tooling Engineer has input into the short- and long-term strategic tooling plans. The Senior tooling engineer will also manage and lead Magna’s Center of Excellence (C.O.E.) to provide best practices in the metal forming section for all forming sections. Maintain and improve documents on the C.O.E.The Senior Tooling Engineer is responsible for new tooling/fixture buy off at vendors and will also assist production assembly tooling when required. The Senior Tooling Engineer will participate & lead the design and costing activities in N.B.(New Buisness). The senior tooling engineer will analyse and approve tool strip layouts for optimization of material & forming simulations. The Senior Tooling Engineer will support all S.P. divisions in North America.\nManangement of the tooling data base is required for all North America tools, this will include audits at suppliers and Magna divisions in North America.\nThe Senior Tooling Engineer will also support Cam-Slide assembly tooling when required.\nKPI’s reported out weekly.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nEnsure budgets and objectives are achieved and/or exceeded with respect to tooling.\nResponsible for forecasting and budgeting related to tooling for engineering changes and New Buisnes.\nCoordinates with other departments and facilities the implementation, development, and improvement of new and old programs tooling requirements. \nCoordinates the fabrication of all required tooling and equipment to support old and new programs.\nCoordinates and implements engineering changes on new and existing tooled programs.\nDevelop and maintains a tooling manual for best practices and new innovations.\nDevelop and manage a tooling tracker and reports out accordingly with the tooling engineer from S.P. divisions\nManage Tooling Data base(TLDB) with Tooling engineers for accuracy.\nActs as technical contact for vendors on tooling issues.\nDevelops and maintains all tooling progress reports.\nCoordinates FMEA on all new tooling.\nEnsures company guidelines for part scrap are adhered to during tooling design process.\nReviews & approves tooling blank size for optimization on New Buisness\nWork daily with production quality issues pertaining to stampings, sub-assemblies & assembly tooling.\nEnsure PPAP’s are achieved on time.\nApprove and sign-off on tooling and gauges using the Die/check fixture Validation Check list (DVD).\nQuote tooling and piece price internally by developing process and strip layouts.\nSend RFQ’s to Purchasing and participate indecisions when sourcing.\nKick off tooling.\nNegotiate with purchasing pricing with vendors.\nWork together with engineers to run simulations to develop formable parts.\nFollows and understanding the Customer Specific Requirements for Stellantis, Ford and GM when using the application of digitized mathematically based data by referring to the IAOB web site.\nCustomer Representative with responsibility and authority to ensure that customer requirements are addressed. This includes selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives and related training, corrective and preventive actions, product design and development. \nPerforms other duties as assigned by management.\nAdheres to all MAFACT Requirements.\nAbide by all AODA and C-TPAT procedures that apply to the position. \nRequired to meet budgeted tool and piece price tool program tool timelines.\nOther duties as assigned.\nSupports Internal / External Audit efforts regarding ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949 Certification for remote site location (Group Office).\nSupports the requirements as detailed in Standard Operating Procedure 8000 (Quality Management System).\nEnsure employees work in the manner consistent with the organizations established objectives and targets utilizing protective equipment, devices, measures, and procedures as promulgated by state and federal regulations. Establish clear goals for workplace health and safety. Complete safety talks, safety meetings, and required training occur, as defined.\nSupport Manufacturing Engineering at SP plants for assembly & weld tooling when required.\nSupport vendors/suppliers when required.\nSupport Maintenance with Continuous Improvement for assembly tooling.\nSupport Maintenance to develop & improve P.M.’s for all assembly tooling.\nWork with purchasing on quoted tooling at release of new business & Engineering changes.\nWork with Group Costing on New Business for optimization of tooling.\nWork with Program Manager on all programs and provide input when required.\nApprove and sign off on all metal forming tooling and gauges.\nMentor & deploy best practices at S.P. divisions.\nEstablish annual goals.\nMust comply with all ISO 14001 (Environmental) and OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety) systems and standards as it pertains to their work.\nPerform audits at tooling suppliers for performance and compliance\nEmbrace Industry Tooling innovations and develop new innovations in continuous improvement.\nConduct Center of Excellence (C.O.E.) meetings with Tooling Engineering in Structural products.\nManage C.O.E. - Metal Forming\nQualifications\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
