Together with our employees we constantly strive to create a better world of mobility.\nJob Responsibilities:\nJob title: Vehicle Engineering Technician - Prototype vehicle assembly and instrumentation\nAs a Vehicle Engineering Technician you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to our fleet of engineering vehicles. You must have a strong mechanical, pneumatic & electrical aptitude and be able to diagnose, repair and replace a variety of often delicate components. You will be working closely with engineers and other technicians, collaborating and communicating in a fast-paced environment.\nResponsibilities:\nWork with cross-functional teams of engineers and designers to implement or integrate new and developing systems.\nCapable of designing, fabricating, assembling, testing, deploying, repairing, troubleshooting various testing rigs and systems integrated into and independent of Waymo SDS vehicles. \nDemonstrate electrical skill set including Electrical diagnosis, harness creation, connector pinning / de-pinning and familiarity using a DVOM.\nIntegrating, diagnosing and test support of multiple types of Instrumentation. Such as Pressure Transducers, Thermo-couples, Flow-meters, External Circuit boards, Relay’s, etc.\nComplete tasks outside of established processes when necessary and propose/implement creative solutions to unforeseen roadblocks.\nComplete reports, procedures, and tests to collect data for the Waymo engineering team. \nDemonstrate leadership alongside managers by providing exemplary hands-on skills, technical writing, and verbal communication practices. \nService and troubleshoot self-driving systems, components, and integrated sensor stacks using internal proprietary tools.\nDiagnose OEM base vehicle systems and components using manufacturer-provided software and tools, specializing in CAN, LIN, and FlexRay.\nMaintain fleet of Self Driving Vehicles including standard vehicle maintenance activities\nUpdate work orders, spreadsheets, and reports to the appropriate teams.\nGood computer skills are a must as the job will require Flashing and diagnosis with a PC using various SW. \nThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the company.\nMinimum Qualifications:\n5+ years experience in an automotive research/development environment.\nStrong diagnostic troubleshooting experience with OEM systems: high-level experience working with vehicles. CAN, Flexray, LIN, HVAC, cooling, chassis, electrical and suspension.\nAbility to adhere to a schedule of operating times for the assigned shift including, but not limited to, working on holidays, weekends, nights, and overtime as needed. \nMust be willing and able to travel on short notice to support fleet needs - could be up to 15% of the time.\nExperience working in a matrix organization, thrives working in a rapidly changing and evolving environment, independently and with cross functional teams.\nVehicle Prototype experience\nExperience with instrumentation (Pressure Transducers, Thermo-couples, Flow-meters, etc.)\nGood computer skills\nPreferred Qualifications:\nA B.A., B.S. and/or an automotive technology degree. \n4+ years experience as a shop lead/master tech.\n5+ years experience in an automotive research/development environment.\n2+ years experience working with ADAS systems and/or other self-driving systems preferred..\nAbility to operate comfortably within and troubleshoot Linux based systems.\nExcellent multi-tasking.\nDiagnostic experience with embedded modules, self-driving systems and sensor stacks.\nAwareness, Unity, Empowerment:\nAt Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
