Through our robust product engineering, outstanding tooling capabilities and diverse process expertise, we continue to bring lightweight and innovative products to market.\nJob Responsibilities:\nPOSITION SUMMARY:\n This position is responsible for ensuring Formet and Customer quality requirements are met by providing input in the development of weld processes and resolving welding concerns.\nThis position has been posted to proactively fill an upcoming vacancy identified through business planning.\nPOSITION SALARY:\n$36.31 - $40.31 CAD Hourly\nThis range reflects only the base salary and does not include other components of our total compensation package, such as the Continuous Improvement Program, GRRSP Matching, MBC Program, and other variable benefits.\nWHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:\nPost-secondary education - completion of Welding Technologist/Technician Course from a Community or recognized college consisting of two years or more.\nSome experience with manual Gas Metal Arc Welding.\nPractical experience with industrial robots.\nYOUR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nPractical experience with manual Gas Tungsten Arc Welding is an asset.\nUnderstands PPAP requirements is an asset.\nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPerform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects Formet Expectations and Formet’s Visions/Values through Magna’s Employee Charter. \nFollow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Formet rules and regulations. \nContribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities. \nSupport the Weld Engineering Coordinators on new and existing programs. \nTroubleshoot Weld Systems and Robotic Equipment to resolve welding related issues. \nGenerating and upkeep of welding-related documentation, and audit as required. \nMaintain a sound understanding of customers’ product and engineering specifications. \nUse technical understanding of the welding processes and weld quality standards to ensure that weld quality is being upheld to customer requirements. \nComplete shift report for Team regarding issues encountered on shift for communication and direction for following shifts. \nProvide technical support to Manufacturing Services to help problem solve weld process issues. \nSupport program launches in-house and off-site to ensure Formet’s Quality Standards are being met and in order to achieve optimal weld quality. \nSupport pre-production buyoffs for welds when required. \nBuy off of the First-Off / Mid-Off processes and set up verifications to ensure it is being done correctly. \nInitiate and coordinate problem reports and containments. \nEstablish, maintain and implement welding parameters to support production and Quality Assurance. \nConducts weld inspection and analyze weld data, generate reports. \nBe an additional resource for Robotic weld touchups. \nArchiving and supporting Paxit system set up and training. \nBe dedicated to generating Weld PPAP packages when required. \nParticipate as a Team Member with effective communication and interpersonal skills. \nAssist in problem investigation and root cause determination. \nParticipate in Product, System and Process Audits, including CSRs, as required. \nAudit and approve Special Material Requests and reworked material when required. \nAssist in the training of production personnel in all weld quality requirements when required. \nAttend and / or Champion quality meetings when requested. \nTake initiative to follow through on completion of tasks / projects, PCR’s and weld-related ideas.Cover for the other Weld Technicians if he/she is absent. \nDemonstrate a sense of urgency to achieve results. \nPerform other duties as designated.\nHOURLY TEAM MEMBER BENEFITS:\nShifts rotate every 2 weeks between Days, Afternoons and Midnights.\nShift premiums of $0.85/hour (afternoons) and $1.35/hour (midnights).\nWeekly pay via direct deposit.\nOvertime (1.5x) after 40 hours worked (hourly).\nVacation entitlement:2 weeks of paid vacation (3 weeks after 3 years) + 4 company paid holidays + 2x ½ days = 15 days annually.\nOption to bank your overtime to earn up to an extra 5 days of paid time off (approved in the same manner as vacation time) (27 hours x 1.5 = 40 hours).\n\nMedical and dental benefits after 1 month of employment.\nFree on-site counselling.\nMagna will contribute an amount equal to 3% of regular earnings every week to your retirement savings (MBC program).\nProfit sharing paid in the second quarter of every year (EEPPP Program).\nMatched GRRSP.\nCompany paid life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D).\nOptional group life insurance and critical illness insurance for self and spouse.\nSafety shoe, prescription safety glasses and custom molded earplug allowance.\nCompany paid uniforms (if you choose to use).\nCompany BBQ, holiday parties and company events.\nCorporate social responsibility initiatives -
