The AppLogic UI is where examiners do that work.\nWe're a small, senior, hands-on team, and this role leads frontend for it. You'll work alongside our UX Design Team, turn their work into an interface that's fast, reliable, and easy to build on, and set the structure and conventions the rest of the team follows.\nThe UI is a mature, server-rendered application built with plain JavaScript and Jinja templates, with CI/CD and unit tests in place. Examiners use it every day, so the job is steady improvement in place: better structure, better performance, and better data, one change at a time. If you're looking to start fresh on a new framework, this probably isn't the right fit.\nNOTE: Candidate must reside in Canada.\nWhat You'll Do\nOwn the architecture of the AppLogic web UI and evolve it incrementally while it stays in daily use.\nSet frontend conventions for the team (structure, naming, testing, review) and raise the bar through code review and pairing.\nKeep the UI fast and responsive as the product grows.\nOwn product analytics instrumentation so the data is consistent and useful to product management.\nWork with UX design to turn designs into production UI, and with product and engineering teams across the company.\nTreat frontend security as part of the job.\nWhat We're Looking For\nFrontend depth. This is the core of the role:\nStrong JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and comfortable building without a framework. That means a real understanding of the browser itself: the DOM, the event loop, rendering, and the network\nExperience improving a mature production frontend incrementally, without stopping to rewrite it\nFrontend architecture: state management, component design, and module boundaries\nPerformance work: profiling load time and runtime behavior, and fixing what you find\nFrontend testing at the unit, integration, and end-to-end levels, with good judgment about which tests are worth writing\nReal-time UI patterns such as WebSockets or server-sent events\nWeb security fundamentals, including XSS prevention and safe handling of untrusted input\nPython. The templates live in our Python application, so you'll be in Python code regularly. You should be comfortable reading, changing, and testing production Python, including Jinja (or similar) templates and the endpoints the UI depends on.\nInstrumentation. You've designed product analytics event schemas that product managers could use, and you understand what the frontend has to get right for that data to be trustworthy.\nConstrained environments. Our software runs on custom hardware installed on-premises at customer sites, often on locked-down networks. The UI can't count on a fast or open internet connection, so you should be comfortable building for that: keeping pages light, not depending on outside resources to load or work, and handling slow or missing connections gracefully.\nGeneral\n6+ years of professional engineering experience, most of it on production web frontends.\nA track record of setting frontend direction for a team: choosing patterns, writing them down, and getting others to adopt them.\nExperience working directly with product managers on scope, priorities, and trade-offs.\nStrong with git and code review.\nClear written communication, since you'll be explaining frontend decisions to engineers who don't specialize in frontend.\nNice To Have\nExperience building or maintaining a component library or design system alongside product designers.\nBackground in digital forensics, law enforcement, or security tooling.\nCompensation & Benefits\nThe Compensation range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. Please note that the actual compensation may vary depending on location and job-related factors such as qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills. If you are applying for this role outside of the primary location and you are selected for an interview, the Talent Acquisition Partner can share more information with you. If the compensation structure for the role includes an incentive component (i.e. most Sales roles) the range below represents total target compensation (TTC) (base salary + variable).\n$103,000 - $153,000 CDN a year\nSalary range (min - max)\nPosition Type: Current Vacancy","description_format":"text","description_chars":4379,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":6,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Canada","iso":"CA","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["National Security","Incident Response","Homeland Security"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-08T15:14:42Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":4,"expected_fill_days":59,"reasons":["conf:0","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-12T06:55:09Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":153000,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/magnet-forensics-senior-frontend-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/magnet-forensics-senior-frontend-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-12T13:13:32Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":20674,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-13T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":1873},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=1873"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fmagnet-forensics-senior-frontend-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fmagnet-forensics-senior-frontend-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fmagnet-forensics-senior-frontend-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/magnet-forensics-senior-frontend-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fmagnet-forensics-senior-frontend-engineer"}]}
