The faculty member will provide excellent, evidence-based, efficient patient care services, as well as resident and student teaching, mentoring, curriculum planning and effective supervision.This role will directly care for ambulatory patients in the faculty outpatient practice and diabetes education center, andwill supervise the care provided to ambulatory patients by staff in the resident outpatient practice. Opportunities for inpatient care, supervision, and teaching arepossible.\nThe Endocrinology Faculty member will provide excellent, evidence-based, efficient patient care services, as well as resident and student teaching, mentoring, curriculum planning and effective supervision.\nDirectly care for ambulatory patients in the faculty outpatient practice\n\nSupervise the care provided to ambulatory patients by house staff in the resident outpatient practice\n\nImprove the quality and efficiency of general endocrinology and diabetes care at MAHEC\n\nIf interested, provide consultation for hospitalized patients working on teams with house staff and students\n\nMentor residents in evidence-based medical care\n\nParticipate in and foster scholarship in the ambulatory setting\n\nWork within MAHEC and with other departments to further the effective management of endocrinology patients\n\nSPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:\nCLINICAL\nProvidedirect clinical care to ambulatory patients in the endocrinology clinic and diabetes education center\n\nProvide after hours on-call (telephone) coverage, including night and weekend on-call duties\n\nComply in a timely mannerwith all institutional policies for professional work, including credentialing, documentation, and billing\n\nWork effectively with other members of the extended inter-professional team\n\nAdditionalclinical duties as necessary for emergent situations or as arranged otherwise with the employee\n\nTEACHING\nServe as a faculty advisor and mentor for residents\n\nSupervise and teach house staff in the resident outpatient practice\n\nPromote and participatein education programs of the department (continuing education, resident, student) to include didactics\n\nServe in an administrative teaching role for CQI team activities and core curriculum lectures for residents\n\nConduct daily teaching activities that use contemporary adult learning methods to promote evidence-based practice\n\nDemonstrate effective teaching skills and continually develop as a teacher for learners at all levels\n\nComplete required evaluations of learners in a timely manner- including but not limited to written and verbal feedback\n\nParticipate in other learning activities such as morning report, core conference, and other formal educational programs for undergraduate and post-graduate learners\n\nRESEARCH\nParticipate in clinical and educational research, according to skills, interest, and funding (research opportunities may include performance improvement initiatives or formal extramurally funded investigations)\n\nDemonstrate commitment to community-based health sciences and research\n\nADMINISTRATIVE\nWork with institutional staff and administration to attainthe strategic objectivesof MAHEC, including patient safety, patient and other customer satisfaction, maintenance and enhancement of public perception, and fiscal health\n\nParticipate, based on experience/skills, on committees and work groups as appropriate withinthe department and within MAHEC\n\nKEY COMPETENCIES:\nCommunication Skills\n\nEffectively and respectably communicate with other individuals, whether it be a colleague, patient, or patient’s family member and appropriately enumerateinformation in a manner easily understood by all parties.
