You will own Android feature delivery end to end, from technical design and implementation through testing, rollout, observability, and production reliability.\nThis role is for an engineer who can operate independently in a large consumer app, make sound architecture decisions, raise the quality bar for the team, and use modern developer tools, including generative AI, responsibly and effectively.\nResponsibilities\nBuild high-quality Android features in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose across app, media, and shared platform modules\nTranslate product requirements and Figma designs into polished, accessible, production-ready UI while maintaining cross-platform consistency with iOS\nDesign and implement clean, maintainable feature architecture that fits a modular Android codebase\nIntegrate REST and GraphQL APIs with resilient networking, thoughtful state handling, caching where appropriate, and clear failure states\nImprove app performance, responsiveness, startup behavior, crash-free sessions, and overall reliability\nPartner with Product, Design, iOS, Backend, QA, and Test Engineering to clarify requirements, shape technical plans, and define test coverage early\nMonitor feature rollouts and production behavior using Firebase, Datadog, crash reporting, analytics, and release health signals\nOwn production issues from diagnosis through resolution, including root-cause analysis and follow-up prevention work\nDrive measurable improvements in build time, delivery throughput, code quality, and engineering efficiency\nProvide thoughtful PR reviews, mentor engineers, and help establish patterns that scale across feature teams\nUse GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar assistants to accelerate implementation, refactoring, test generation, debugging, and documentation while retaining full engineering accountability\nValidate AI-assisted work through tests, code review, static analysis, observability checks, and secure coding practices before merge\nFollow internal AI usage guidance, repository conventions, data-handling expectations, and review standards\nQualifications & Skills\nRequired Qualifications\n6+ years of professional experience building production Android applications\nStrong Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, coroutines, and modern Android architecture expertise\nExperience working in modular Android codebases with shared core modules, design systems, and established architectural patterns\nStrong REST and GraphQL integration experience, including error handling, async state management, and API contract collaboration\nProven testing discipline across unit, integration, snapshot, and UI testing, including experience running tests in CI\nExperience diagnosing production issues using logs, metrics, crash reporting, analytics, and observability tools\nFamiliarity with push notifications, deep links, widgets, feature flags, experimentation, and release management\nStrong Git workflow, code review, and written communication skills\nPractical experience using GenAI developer tools to support software delivery, with the judgment to review, adapt, test, and explain generated code\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience building high-traffic consumer apps with millions of users\nMedia, video streaming, sports, live events, or real-time data experience\nExperience with Firebase, Datadog, GraphQL clients, analytics platforms, remote configuration, and experimentation frameworks\nExperience improving app startup, rendering performance, memory usage, networking efficiency, or build performance\nExperience in large shared repositories with many contributors and multiple release trains\nTechnical leadership experience, including mentoring, architecture reviews, and cross-team delivery\nFamiliarity with responsible GenAI practices, including prompt/context hygiene, AI-assisted test creation, and evaluation of generated code quality\nSenior-Level Competencies\nDrives ambiguous product and technical problems toward clear, shippable outcomes\nMakes pragmatic tradeoffs across quality, speed, maintainability, performance, and user impact\nCommunicates technical decisions clearly to engineering and non-engineering partners\nRaises team standards through code reviews, design feedback, mentoring, and documentation\nBalances feature delivery with long-term platform health and operational reliability\nUnderstands the broader codebase and internal tooling deeply enough to make changes safely across module boundaries\nUses metrics and production signals to guide decisions rather than relying only on intuition\nTreats GenAI as a force multiplier, not a substitute for engineering judgment, ownership, or accountability\nSalary Range: $150,000 - $185,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus\nAs a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
