This role supports data integrity, availability, and performance through routine administration, proactive monitoring, and collaboration with development and infrastructure teams. The DBA ensures that all database environments operate smoothly to support banking operations, analytics, and regulatory requirements. \nResponsibilities\nDatabase Installation & Configuration \nInstall and configure relational database systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL. \n\nSet up databases, schemas, tables, indexes, and user roles based on system requirements. \n\nAssist in deploying database components for application releases and upgrades. \n\nMonitoring & Performance Tuning \nMonitor database health, availability, and utilization using monitoring tools and scripts. \n\nPerform proactive tuning of SQL queries, indexes, and parameters to improve performance. \n\nIdentify and resolve locking, contention, and latency issues. \n\nBackup, Recovery & High Availability \nExecute scheduled database backups and verify backup integrity. \n\nParticipate in testing and maintaining disaster recovery and high availability (HA) configurations. \n\nPerform data recovery in the event of failures or corruption, ensuring data integrity is preserved. \n\nSecurity & Compliance \nApply patches and security updates to database engines and tools. \n\nEnforce database access controls, audit logs, encryption, and password policies. \n\nSupport internal and external audits with documentation and remediation actions. \n\nTroubleshooting & Support \nInvestigate and resolve database-related incidents, errors, and system alerts. \n\nAssist developers and application teams with data-related issues and optimization advice. \n\nLog all incidents and resolutions in the service desk platform. \n\nDocumentation & Maintenance \nMaintain up-to-date documentation of database structures, user privileges, backup plans, and SOPs. \n\nTrack changes and configurations as part of the Bank’s change management policy. \n\nCollaboration \nWork closely with Application Developers, System Administrators, BI Engineers, and Security teams to ensure seamless and secure data access and exchange. \n\nParticipate in data integration and migration projects as required\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. \n\nCertifications in database technologies (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft SQL DBA, PostgreSQL) are advantageous. \n\nStrong skills in SQL and database scripting. \n\nExperience with database management tools, backup systems, and monitoring platforms. \n\nUnderstanding of indexing, replication, clustering, and data security principles. \n\n3 to 5 years of experience in database administration or related roles. \n\nExperience managing production databases in a secure, high-availability environment, preferably in banking or financial services. \n\nFamiliarity with scripting, automation, or data migration projects is a plus. \n\nDocuments required with application.\n1.
