Designed to be a sanctuary in the heart of the city, the hotel promises an elevated experience for both leisure and business travelers seeking comfort, excellence, and distinction in Manila.\nThe Role\nMandarin Oriental Makati is seeking a skilled and proactive Duty Engineer to join our pre-opening Engineering team. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of all hotel facilities and systems. As part of the pre-opening team, you will play a key role in setting up engineering standards, testing systems, and supporting a seamless launch of this luxury destination.\nKey Responsibilities\nOversee day-to-day engineering operations, ensuring all hotel systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC) function efficiently\nMonitor and respond to maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely manner\nConduct regular inspections of equipment, plant rooms, and public areas to ensure safety and compliance\nTroubleshoot and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime and guest disruption\nSupport the implementation of preventive maintenance programs and engineering procedures\nAssist in testing, commissioning, and handover of systems during the pre-opening phase\nEnsure compliance with safety standards, local regulations, and Mandarin Oriental brand requirements\nMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance\nLiaise with contractors and service providers to ensure quality and timely completion of works\nCollaborate closely with housekeeping, front office, and other departments to support operational needs\nQualifications & Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) and PRC Licensed Engineer\nMinimum 3-5 years of engineering experience in hotels, preferably within a luxury or pre-opening environment\nStrong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire & safety systems\nHands-on troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail\nAbility to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies\nFamiliarity with preventive maintenance systems and engineering tools\nGood communication and teamwork skills\nWillingness to work shifts, including weekends and holidays\nWhy Join Us?\nMandarin Oriental offers a world-class environment where your expertise, creativity, and leadership will shape the legacy of our return to Manila.
