Our hotel features 120 rooms and suites designed by Patricia Urquiola, a Michelin-starred restaurant, cocktail bar, terrace, spa, and exceptional event spaces.\nAbout the job\nBased at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, within the Food & Beverage Department, the F&B Operations Trainee supports the different Food & Beverage outlets while developing a comprehensive understanding of the department’s daily operations, procedures, and service standards.\nThe F&B Operations Trainee reports to the Director of Food & Beverage and the respective Outlet Managers.\nAs F&B Operations Trainee, you will be responsible for the following duties:\nRestaurant Operations\nWelcome and escort guests according to established service standards.\nLearn the food and beverage menus and provide recommendations to guests.\nTake food and beverage orders and ensure accurate service delivery.\nServe dishes and beverages following luxury hospitality standards.\nAssist with restaurant setup, side duties, and closing procedures.\nSupport the Restaurant Manager with daily operational requirements.\nIn-Room Dining Operations\nLearn the In-Room Dining menu and be able to make recommendations to guests.\nPrepare trays and orders according to established standards.\nDeliver food and beverages to guest rooms and ensure professional service.\nOrganize guest amenities and welcome drinks.\nAssist in minibar coordination and replenishment.\nSupport setup, cleaning, and operational tasks within the department.\nAssist the In-Room Dining Manager with daily responsibilities.\nBar Operations\nWelcome guests and provide exceptional service at the bar.\nLearn the beverage menu and make recommendations based on guest preferences.\nTake orders and serve beverages and food items.\nAssist with bar setup, replenishment, and closing activities.\nSupport the Bar Manager in daily operational tasks.\nBanqueting & Events Operations\nWelcome and assist guests attending meetings and events.\nPrepare meeting rooms and event spaces according to event requirements.\nAssist with setup, service, and breakdown of functions and events.\nMaintain storage areas, equipment, and materials organized and clean.\nSupport the Banqueting Manager with all operational duties as required.\nSommelier Support\nOffer aperitifs and welcome beverages to guests when required.\nMonitor and maintain stock levels of glassware and wine-related equipment.\nLearn to make wine recommendations that complement menu offerings.\nAssist in serving wines and beverages according to service standards.\nSupport the Sommelier and Restaurant Manager in daily operational duties.\nGeneral Responsibilities\nGain a thorough understanding of all F&B outlets and their operating procedures.\nDevelop knowledge of luxury hospitality service standards and guest engagement.\nUnderstand daily briefings, operational reports, and service requirements.\nCommunicate effectively with colleagues and other hotel departments.\nMaintain high levels of cleanliness, organization, and professionalism.\nEnsure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.\nAssist with any additional operational duties required by the Food & Beverage Management team.\nOur commitment to you:\nUniform and laundry service for the uniform\nStudy allowance of €500 gross per month (40 hours per week)\nMeals during the internship working day\nBirthday off if it falls during the internship period\nDiscounts at F&B outlets\nMandarin Oriental is an equal opportunity employer.
