With six distinctive restaurants and bars, including a rooftop Mandarin Bar with sweeping city views, the property will blend tranquil residential charm with contemporary Roman sophistication.\nAbout the job\nThe Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day procurement activities of the hotel, ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of goods and services while maintaining Mandarin Oriental quality standards. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role plays an important part in supporting the operational and financial success of Mandarin Oriental, Rome through effective supplier management, inventory control and purchasing best practices.\nAs Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:\nManage the day-to-day purchasing activities of the hotel, ensuring efficiency, accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.\nSource goods and services in accordance with operational requirements, quality standards and approved budgets.\nDevelop and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers to ensure service excellence, competitive pricing and reliable delivery.\nObtain competitive quotations and support contract negotiations to maximise value and cost effectiveness.\nMonitor supplier performance and work proactively to identify opportunities for service improvements and cost savings.\nOversee inventory and stock control processes, maintaining appropriate stock levels while minimising waste and loss.\nEnsure all purchasing documentation, records and approvals are completed accurately and in line with internal control requirements.\nCollaborate closely with Restaurants, Bars & Experience, Rooms Division, Engineering and Finance teams to support daily operational needs.\nSupport the implementation and continuous improvement of purchasing systems, procedures and controls.\nMonitor procurement expenditure and prepare regular reports on purchasing activity, supplier performance and cost-saving initiatives.\nSupervise and develop members of the Purchasing team, providing guidance, training and support to ensure high performance.\nPromote sustainable and responsible sourcing practices in line with Mandarin Oriental's environmental and social commitments.\nContribute to the successful opening and ongoing operation of one of Rome's most anticipated luxury hospitality destinations.\nAs Purchasing Manager, we expect from you:\nA minimum of 4-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain management within luxury hospitality or a related industry.\nPrevious experience in a purchasing supervisory or management position within a hotel environment.\nStrong commercial awareness with experience in supplier management, cost control, purchasing processes and contract administration.\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.\nExcellent negotiation, organisational and relationship-building skills.\nStrong analytical skills with the ability to review purchasing data, identify trends and support informed decision-making.\nExperience working with procurement systems, inventory management and hotel purchasing procedures.\nProven ability to supervise, coach and develop colleagues while fostering a collaborative team environment.\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across departments.\nStrong command of written and spoken English and Italian.\nHigh levels of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.\nOur commitment to you:\nLearning & Development.
