You will contribute to the advancement and development of spacecraft and payload/instrument guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) architectures, designs, algorithms, simulations, flight software implementations, performance validation and on-orbit commissioning and operations.\nResponsibilities include:\nConceiving, designing, analyzing, simulating, and evaluating complex GNC subsystem performance\nDelivering advanced algorithms and associated flight software code for integration and test at the GNC subsystem and system level\nDeveloping and executing detailed subsystem test and verification plans at the system level\nLeading teams that develop and operate GNC systems and coordinating the validation and documentation of subsystem performance prior to delivery\nQualifications:\nA Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field with at least 6 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with at least 4 years of experience; or a PhD with at least 2 years of experience.\nRequired:\n\nActive TS/SCI clearance\nStrong technical background in modern guidance, estimation, and control for aerospace systems\nExperience in the research and development of advanced GNC systems for precision pointing\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and lead technical efforts; excellent communication and presentation skills\nHighly desired experience includes:\nGNC system architectures\nPrecision payload dynamics and controls\nAdvanced control methods (linear and nonlinear)\nEstimation (Kalman filtering, random processes, nonlinear filtering, computer vision)\nLinear and nonlinear dynamics, multi-rigid-body dynamics\nOn-board guidance and navigation (optimization, convex methods)\nAttitude estimation and control\nPrecision pointing control\nPointing, acquisition, and tracking systems\nGNC for autonomous aerial vehicles\nRotorcraft dynamics and control\nVision-based navigation\nTerrain-relative navigation (TRN)\n3D lidar-based navigation\nFast steering mirror control\nHigh-bandwidth mechatronics\nActive and passive vibration control\nControl of gimbaled or articulated platforms\nControlled optics\nOptical wavefront and path-length control\nStructural modeling and finite element analysis\nGNC-related on-board and ground calibration\nIntegrated modeling (flexible structures/optics/thermal, dynamics and control)\nTime-domain simulation and multi-rate systems\nSmall spacecraft design\nMulti-vehicle formation flying\nControl of large monolithic or segmented telescopes\nControl of large distributed systems\nAerodynamic control for deep-space planetary exploration\nComfortable working with Matlab/Simulink\nAdditional desired experience:\n·Strong background in technology development\n·Experience with instrument/optical pointing systems and integrated GNC hardware/software\n·Experience with lasers, detectors, fast steering mirrors, and high-rate control systems\n·Experience in autonomous system design and spacecraft autonomy\n·Demonstrated ability to manage cost and schedule in new technology development\n·General familiarity with signal processing\n*Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident\n*This is an onsite role.
