are currently recruiting for an experienced Assurance Field Engineer to join a major engineering and infrastructure programme in London. \nThis site-based role will be responsible for the inspection, verification and assurance of MEP installations, ensuring that works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, quality requirements and relevant industry standards. \nYou will play an important role in ensuring that materials, installations, inspection records and supporting certification are fully compliant, accurately documented and available to support progressive assurance and final handover. \nThe role will involve carrying out material inspections, completing digital inspection and test documentation, producing inspection records and verifying installed works against drawings and acceptance criteria. \nA key part of the position will also be taking ownership of snagging activities, ensuring defects and outstanding items are identified, tracked and driven through to completion. \nWorking closely with construction teams, engineers, quality personnel and wider project stakeholders, you will help ensure works are delivered right first time, with clear and auditable evidence of compliance.\nKey Responsibilities\nMaterials Inspection & Control\nInspect materials and equipment upon delivery to ensure compliance with approved specifications and documentation.\nVerify materials are correctly labelled, identifiable and fully traceable.\nCheck the condition of materials on delivery and identify any damage, defects or potential non-conformances.\nEnsure appropriate certification and supporting documentation is available.\nWork with logistics, construction and quality teams to resolve material-related issues.\nInspection & Test Plans\nComplete and maintain digital Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) check sheets.\nEnsure inspection and testing activities are accurately recorded against approved requirements.\nEnsure hold points and witness points are appropriately managed.\nCarry out inspections at the required stages of construction.\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date visibility of inspection status across assigned work areas.\nInspection & Test Records\nPrepare and author Inspection & Test Records in accordance with approved ITPs and project requirements.\nUndertake inspections of mechanical and MEP installations.\nEnsure inspection records are accurate, complete and supported by appropriate evidence.\nVerify installed works against drawings, specifications, approved documentation and acceptance criteria.\nIdentify and escalate any deviations or areas of non-compliance.\nInstalled Works Assurance\nUndertake regular assurance inspections of installed works across site.\nVerify installations meet design, quality and applicable safety requirements.\nIdentify, record and report defects, non-conformances and deviations.\nWork collaboratively with construction and engineering teams to resolve issues.\nProvide assurance that completed works meet the required standards before progressing through the project lifecycle.\nSnagging & Defect Management\nTake ownership of the identification, recording and monitoring of snagging items.\nEnsure defects and outstanding works are accurately documented and tracked.\nWork with construction teams to drive timely resolution and close-out.\nMonitor outstanding items through to completion.\nSupport project readiness for completion, testing, commissioning and handover.\nAssurance & Handover Documentation\nSupport the compilation of assurance documentation and quality/system records packs.\nEnsure inspection, testing and certification evidence is accurately recorded and appropriately stored.\nMaintain clear and traceable quality records throughout the works.\nContribute to progressive assurance and the preparation of final handover documentation.\nIdentify missing or incomplete evidence and support timely close-out.\nStakeholder Coordination\nDevelop effective working relationships with construction teams, engineers, QA/QC personnel and client representatives.\nCoordinate assurance activities across multiple work fronts.\nParticipate in site inspections, assurance reviews and progress meetings.\nCommunicate quality and assurance issues clearly and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken.\nContinuous Improvement\nSupport the effective integration of inspection and assurance activities within construction delivery.\nContribute to improving quality and assurance processes.\nIdentify recurring issues and support the implementation of corrective actions.\nAssist with improving digital workflows and documentation processes.\nPromote a proactive, right-first-time approach to quality and assurance.\nAbout You\nWe are looking for a technically capable and detail-focused engineer or construction professional with practical experience in mechanical installation, inspection or field-based assurance. \nYou will be comfortable working on active construction sites and have the confidence to inspect installed works, challenge non-compliant activities and work collaboratively with delivery teams to resolve issues. \nThe ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent record-keeping and communication skills, ensuring that quality and assurance requirements are maintained throughout the project.\nEssential Qualifications & Knowledge\nRelevant mechanical or electrical installation qualification, such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent.\nStrong understanding of Inspection and Test Plans and inspection/test records.\nPractical experience in MEP installation inspection and site-based assurance.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.\nExperience using digital inspection or quality management systems.\nGood working knowledge of construction and engineering practices.\nUnderstanding of quality assurance and inspection processes.\nDesirable Qualifications & Knowledge\nHNC/HND in Engineering or a related discipline.\nQA/QC or inspection-related qualifications or certifications.\nExperience with formal quality management and certification processes.\nKnowledge of system/quality records and handover documentation.\nExperience working on major infrastructure, rail or similarly complex projects.\nUnderstanding of MEP systems, interfaces and associated construction activities.\nExperience Required\nEssential\nDemonstrable experience in mechanical installation, inspection and/or field assurance.\nExperience undertaking inspection, testing and quality verification within construction or engineering projects.\nExperience producing and maintaining inspection records and assurance documentation.\nExperience identifying defects, non-conformances and installation issues.\nExperience working collaboratively with construction and engineering teams.\nDesirable\nPrevious experience in a similar role on a major infrastructure, rail or engineering programme.\nExperience supporting completions, commissioning and handover activities.\nExperience working within a structured quality or assurance framework.\nExperience working for a major contractor or within a complex multi-stakeholder project environment.\nPrevious
