are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join a growing project team delivering major High Voltage (HV), substation and electrical infrastructure projects across the power and utilities sector.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor who understands the delivery of electrical projects and is looking to take ownership of the commercial and contractual performance of major project packages.\nBased in Glasgow, you will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Planners, clients and subcontractors, managing projects from initial mobilisation through to completion and final account.\nCandidates with a combination of Quantity Surveying experience and an electrical or engineering background will be particularly well suited.\nKey Responsibilities\nManage the commercial delivery of assigned HV electrical and substation projects.\nPrepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, BOQs and profit plans.\nMonitor project expenditure, commitments, costs and overall financial performance.\nPrepare and submit interim valuations, progress applications and final accounts.\nManage subcontractor accounts, including valuations, remeasurement, payment certificates and final accounts.\nIdentify, value and manage variations, change orders, dayworks and additional works.\nCapture and accurately cost site changes, including labour and material costs.\nWork closely with Planning Engineers to ensure project progress is accurately reflected commercially.\nReview programmes and assess the commercial impact of delays, changes and programme movements.\nIdentify commercial and contractual risks and ensure these are escalated appropriately.\nMaintain accurate records and supporting documentation for all commercial activities.\nAttend commercial meetings with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams.\nSupport the negotiation and agreement of commercial settlements, variations and claims.\nEnsure contractual obligations and client requirements are understood and properly administered.\nProvide regular commercial reporting to Project Managers and Senior Management.\nSupport the wider commercial team with contract administration and project financial management.\nWhat We're Looking For\nYou will ideally have:\nA third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.\nCommercial experience within the electrical, power, utilities, construction or engineering sectors.\nExperience managing project costs, valuations, variations and final accounts.\nA strong understanding of construction and engineering contracts and their practical application.\nExcellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial and commercial data.\nStrong communication and negotiation skills.\nExcellent organisation, administration and record-keeping abilities.\nThe ability to work independently and manage competing commercial priorities.\nA high level of attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and timely delivery.\nHV & Electrical Experience - Desirable\nExperience in any of the following would be highly advantageous:\nHV electrical projects\nSubstation construction or installation\nSwitchgear installation\nHV cabling\nPower transmission and distribution\nElectrical infrastructure\nUtilities or M&E contracting\nRemeasurement, dayworks and change control\nPreparation and agreement of commercial claims and variations\nA technical background as an Electrician, Electrical Engineer, Instrumentation Technician or similar, combined with commercial/QS experience, would also be advantageous.\nCommercial & Contract Management\nThis role will have significant responsibility for ensuring that project costs and commercial claims are accurately captured and administered in accordance with contractual requirements.\nYou will be responsible for ensuring that:\nCompleted works are accurately measured and valued.\nVariations, additional works and dayworks are identified and recorded.\nLabour and material cost changes are captured appropriately.\nInterim and final accounts are prepared accurately.\nCommercial claims are supported by robust records and evidence.\nContractual deadlines and obligations are maintained.\nCommercial risks are identified early and communicated to the wider project team.\nThe Ideal Candidate\nWe are looking for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor who understands the realities of delivering electrical engineering projects.\nYou will be confident dealing with clients and subcontractors, comfortable working with detailed financial information and capable of identifying commercial opportunities and risks throughout the project
