{"id":1988178,"url":"https://alion.io/job/mane-senior-electronics-engineer","title":"Senior Electronics Engineer","company":{"id":2408439,"name":"Mane","domain":"mane.co.uk","url":"https://alion.io/company/mane-co-uk","size_band":"11-50","is_staffing_agency":true,"employer_type":"agency","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Schema","truth_index":null},"role":"Hardware","role_family":"Hardware","seniority":"senior","employment_type":"full_time","work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["United Kingdom"],"countries":["GB"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":{"min":43000,"max":43000,"currency":"GBP","period":"year","gross":null,"usd_annual":57048},"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":null,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[{"name":"Altium Designer","optional":true}],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-09-15T00:00:00Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-09-15","last_verified_at":"2026-10-09T21:55:23Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":25,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":25},"description":"About the Role\nWe are looking for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join a specialist engineering team based in Ampthill, Bedfordshire.\nReporting to the Design Team Lead, you will take responsibility for the design, development, testing and support of electrical and electronic solutions, working from initial concept through to completion within a structured phase-gate development process.\nThis is a fully on-site role at Ampthill, with the expectation that the successful candidate will work on-site on a full-time basis due to the nature of the work and security requirements.\nYou will play a key role in developing robust electronic hardware for demanding environments, while supporting the wider engineering team across design, manufacturing, integration and testing.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and develop electrical and electronic hardware from concept through to production.\nDevelop analogue, digital, microprocessor, FPGA and power electronic solutions.\nProduce and review electrical/electronic schematics and PCB designs.\nCarry out circuit analysis, simulation, testing and evaluation.\nUndertake electronic analysis including derating, stress and tolerance assessments.\nDevelop and maintain specifications, processes and technical procedures supporting design and manufacture.\nSupport the definition of functional and physical design requirements and integrated system architectures.\nProvide technical input into supplier capability assessments and source selection.\nSupport Assembly, Integration and Test activities, including troubleshooting and technical investigations.\nUse laboratory test equipment to support development and fault finding.\nSupport JTAG design and debugging of electronic circuits.\nProduce technical documentation including trade studies, requirements documentation, compliance evidence and test documentation.\nWork closely with other engineering disciplines, suppliers and manufacturing teams to deliver technically robust solutions.\nContribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and ways of working.\nAbout You\nWe are looking for an experienced electronics engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of technical work and working across the full product development lifecycle.\nEssential Experience\nHNC, HND, BEng or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.\nProven experience in electronics hardware design and electrical product development, ideally for harsh or demanding environments.\nExperience with schematic capture and PCB layout.\nGood understanding of IPC standards and PCB design principles.\nExperience with electronic analysis, including derating, stress and tolerance analysis.\nAwareness of EMC requirements at both product and PCB level.\nExperience using laboratory test and measurement equipment.\nExperience with JTAG design and electronic circuit debugging.\nExperience supporting Assembly, Integration and Test activities.\nAwareness of Defence Standards / DEF STAN, military standards, safety and quality processes.\nExperience using Windchill or another Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nGood organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload and deliver against deadlines.\nExisting SC clearance, or the ability to obtain SC clearance.
