The Youth Ministry Coordinator helps lead and disciple middle school and/or high school students at the Portland Campus through weekly youth ministry, relationships, small groups, services, retreats, and other campus youth activities. Working under the leadership of the Lead Youth Pastor, the Apprentice provides hands-on ministry leadership by building relationships with students and families, developing Dream Team leaders, helping plan and lead youth services, teaching and communicating biblical truth, and creating environments where students can grow in their relationship with Jesus and connection to the church. This is a developmental ministry role designed to provide meaningful pastoral and leadership experience while contributing directly to the health and growth of Mannahouse Youth.
- Hours: Part-Time, 20hours/week
- Campus: Portland
- Reports directly to the Senior Pastor and Lead Youth Pastor
- Works collaboratively with the other Youth Ministry Coordinator, Youth Operations staff, campus staff, and Youth Dream Team leaders
- Provides leadership and direction to assigned Youth Dream Team leaders and volunteers
Requirements
- Demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the mission, beliefs, vision, and values of Mannahouse
- Demonstrates a clear calling and desire to grow in youth ministry and pastoral leadership and pursuit of a Portland Bible College degree
- Genuine love for middle school and high school students and a desire to see them grow spiritually
- Working knowledge of Scripture with doctrinal and theological alignment with Mannahouse
- Ability to communicate biblical truth to students in a clear, engaging, and age-appropriate way
- Strong relational skills with the ability to connect with students, parents, volunteers, and staff
- Ability to recruit, encourage, equip, and work alongside Dream Team leaders
- Demonstrates initiative, reliability, teachability, and consistent follow-through
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a youth ministry team rather than operating independently
- Comfortable leading groups, facilitating ministry environments, and speaking publicly
- Ability to appropriately handle sensitive student and family situations and recognize when pastoral concerns should be escalated
- Willingness to receive coaching, feedback, and ongoing ministry development
- Able to work evenings, weekends, retreats, youth services, and other ministry activities as required
- Must be a member in good standing of Mannahouse, including consistent attendance, ministry participation, and tithing
Responsibilities
Discipleship & Student Connection
- Builds consistent relationships with students and families, providing pastoral care, prayer, and guidance
- Fosters student growth by integrating them into small groups, ministry pathways, and the broader life of Mannahouse
- Identifies students needing additional pastoral support and escalates concerns to the Lead Youth Pastor as needed
Youth Ministry Leadership
- Helps plan, teach, and lead weekly services and events, creating welcoming and spiritually engaging environments
- Ensures all logistical needs such as supplies, scheduling, set up and tear down, and registrations are met for services and events
- Leads prayer and ministry moments in alignment with ministry vision
- Recruits, trains, and empowers Dream Team members to take increasing ownership of ministry environments
- Communicates vision, expectations, and schedules, ensuring volunteers feel equipped and encouraged
- Provides direct leadership to assigned teams during services and campus activities
Administration & Team Collaboration
- Maintains timely, clear communication with students, parents, and staff using approved ministry systems
- Works collaboratively with the co-Apprentice and staff to clarify responsibilities and unify ministry efforts
- Attends all required meetings and executes special assignments as directed by the Lead Youth Pastor
Apprentice Development
- Engages in ongoing coaching and leadership development with the Lead Youth Pastor
- Actively solicits and applies feedback to grow in preaching, pastoral care, and ministry administration
- Maintains personal spiritual health and models the mission, culture, and values of Mannahouse
