MANTECH’s Space Division is recruitinga highly talented, customer-oriented Launch Vehicle ProjectEngineer to support the United States Space Force Space (USSF), Systems Command (SSC) in executing the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program in theKent, WAarea.

The preferred candidate will haveskills, background, and experience related to Launch Vehicle (LV) systems, project management,quality,manufacturingand software productivity tool use, to help the Space Force redefine the future of National Security Space Launch (NSSL). This position is based out of Kent,WA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide LV systems engineeringexpertiseat Kent, WA launch provider site. Areas of expertise may include Propulsion, Avionics, Structures, Mechanical Systems, Guidance Navigation and Control, Mission Analysis, Software, and Manufacturing Engineering, Mission Assurance, or Launch Operations.Plan, coordinate,participate, facilitate Engineering Boards, provide risk assessments and technical recommendations.

  • Perform systems engineering functions such as requirements definition, design review, test review, pedigree, hardware acceptance, performance assessment and verification, operations, and post-flight analyses.

  • Prepare Customer team for, and directly support, launch contractor reviews, audits, and site walkdowns, rehearsals and launch operations, and anomaly resolution processes. Perform technical and engineering data management, such as data mining and reporting, while successfully keeping proprietary information separate and protected.

  • Provide an overall analysis/evaluation of the current launch vehicle Article/Tail # byconsolidatingcritical information and metrics from reports for each Flight Critical Item List (FCIL) discipline.

  • Produce Quality Program Surveillance,ComponentSurveillance, and Consolidated Surveillance Reports (tail number reports) on Avionics, Composites, Hydraulics, Propulsion and Structures, periodically, monthly, and asrequired.

  • Verify/validatethat manufacturing/producibility approaches/processes are developed/correlated with the critical design (in accordance withSMC-S-021 CDR Appendix E, SAE AS6500, and LE-T-014). Identifyproblematic suppliers and delivery issues, incorporating them into a tracking process (including those not on the FCIL but mayimpactthe Launch Schedule).

  • Provide quality oversight of AS9100, LE-T-014 and ISO-9000 environments, including technical review of written material and assessments of conformance to policies.

MinimumQualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering or bachelor’s degree in STEM field. 1.5 years relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of each 1 year of education/degree requirement.

  • 12+years as systems engineer, technical PM, or other related areas

  • 4+years of DoD or Launch/Range experience.

  • Knowledge/experience with LV systems (liquid propellant rocket engines and systems, ordnance, hydraulics, in-flight avionics, LV ground support equipment, LV structures, composite materials, etc.)

  • Experience with LV design, processing, integration, testing,launchand anomaly resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with space, launch, and safety standards.

  • Experience with USSF, NASA, National Reconnaissance Office, and LCs preferred.

  • Experience with agile software products, such as Warp Core, Jira, Confluence, MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Google Workspace, and Information Technology systems is highly preferred.

  • Previousproject management experience preferred.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain andmaintainaSecret Clearance. However, notrequiredto start.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Constantlyoperatesa computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchangeaccurateinformation in these situations.

The projected compensation range for this position is $116,400.00-$194,900.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
