Your journey to impactful work and rapid growth starts now-be extraordinary at MANTECH!\n***This is for a future opportunity***\nMANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Quantum Research Scientist to join our team in a remote role.\nThe Quantum Research Scientist will advance quantum information science and optical quantum systems, leveraging expertise in continuous-variable photonics and theoretical algorithm discovery to translate complex physical phenomena into experimental prototypes and publishable research.\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to:\nConducting foundational and applied research to advance quantum information science, with a specialized focus on continuous-variable (CV) photonic quantum computing.\nLeading theoretical algorithm discovery, establishing novel qubit modalities, and engineering advanced error-correction schemes tailored for optical and photonic quantum systems.\nPrioritizing experimental physics integration within photonics modalities over alternative architectures.\nTranslating complex mathematical models and quantum physical phenomena into experimental prototypes, technical specifications, and publishable findings.\nCollaborating closely with academic partners and cross-functional engineering teams to map cross-platform control policies to alternative modalities.\nDocumenting research progress and disseminating findings through technical papers, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nMaster’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.\n4+ years of professional experience working in quantum computing or quantum information science.\nDemonstrated foundational research experience in theoretical algorithm discovery, novel qubit modalities, quantum error-correction schemes, or experimental quantum physics.\nDemonstrated experience translating complex mathematical models and physical phenomena into experimental prototypes or technical specifications.\nAbility to travel up to 25% within the Continental U.S.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPhD in Quantum Physics, Atomic Physics, Condensed Matter, or Computer Science with a Quantum Information Science focus.\nA robust peer-review record, industry recognition, patents, or publications in top-tier journals (e.g., Nature, PRX, IEEE).\nProfessional certifications such as IBM Certified Quantum Computation using Qiskit Developer, MIT xPro Quantum Computing Fundamentals, or Advanced HPC/GPU Acceleration (e.g., NVIDIA CUDA).\nExperience applying machine learning and AI algorithms to quantum control or complex physical simulations.\nClearance Requirements: Must be a US Citizen.\nPhysical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.\nThe projected compensation range for this position is $94,800.00-$157,200.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
