This position is remote out of Virginia and requires occasional travel to C hesapeake or Norfolk, VA, for client meetings and events.\nThe Structural Engineer will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to support Military Sealift Command (MSC) engineering and design efforts. You will help ensure the structural integrity, strength, and stability of diverse marine structures and waterborne vessel hulls to meet critical operational characteristics for naval crafts operating on the sea surface.\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to:\nPerforming professional architectural, engineering, and scientific work relating to the form, strength, and performance of marine structures\n\nConducting detailed Structural Analyses and Finite Element Analyses (FEA) to evaluate vessel hull integrity and operational safety\n\nDeveloping technical reports and calculations for Weight and Moment, Stability, and Inclining Experiments\n\nExecuting Hydrostatics and Intact and Damage stability assessments to ensure vessel compliance with maritime standards\n\nManaging arrangements for Hull and Deck outfitting, as well as conducting Mooring Studies and Vibration Analyses\n\nPerforming Material Analyses and Weld and Connection Analyses to support complex shipboard repair and construction\n\nProviding engineering oversight for Rigging, Cargo Handling, and Lifesaving Systems Analyses across various naval platforms\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Applied Mechanics or a related field\n\n5+ years of experience with specialized vessels in one or more of the following areas: Expeditionary Fast Transport Vessels (T-EPF), Hospital Ships (T-AH), Dry Cargo/Ammunition Ships (T-AKE), Underway Replenishment Oilers (T-AO), Cable Laying/Repair (T-ARC), Rescue/Salvage Ships (T-ARS), Submarine Tender (T-AS), Fleet Ocean Tugs (T-ATF), Command Ship (LCC), Expeditionary Mobile Base (T-ESB), Fast Combat Support Vessels (T-AOE) or like vessels\n\nExperience with vessel stability calculations, mooring analysis, towing plans, ship salvage, and dry-docking operations\n\nExpertise in complex hull structures, arrangements, outfitting, and structural analysis\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience performing finite element analysis (FEA) and closed-form solutions for maritime applications\n\nExperience with Optimoor and FEMAP/ANSYS (or similar software), MathCAD, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite\n\nExperience supporting Military Sealift Command (MSC) or similar naval engineering environments\n\nClearance Requirement:\nAn active Secret clearance is required for this position.\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nMust be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.\n\nNeeds to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, climb ladder wells on vessels, etc.\n\nFrequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations attending meetings.\n\nMust be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.\n\nThe projected compensation range for this position is $70,200.00-$117,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
