Senior Manager, Communications, Asia, GWAM

Support the planning and execution of communications programs for Manulife’s Wealth and Asset Management business across Asia. Deliver high-quality internal and external communications activities that support business priorities, strengthen the reputation of the business, drive employee engagement, and increase the visibility of Asia WAM leadership, investment capabilities and strategic initiatives.

Working closely with the Asia GWAM Communications team and business stakeholders, manage day-to-day communications activities, develop compelling content, coordinate regional communications initiatives and support the effective implementation of communications plans across Asia. Ensure alignment with regional and global GWAM priorities while adapting communications to the needs of different markets and audiences.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Communications Support

  • Support the development and execution of communications plans aligned with regional business priorities and global GWAM objectives.

  • Provide communications support to business leaders and stakeholders across Asia.

  • Identify opportunities to promote Asia WAM leaders, investment capabilities and strategic priorities.

  • Develop clear and compelling messaging across internal and external audiences.

2. Executive and Leadership Communications

  • Support communications for Asia WAM leaders and regional executives.

  • Develop executive messages, presentations, speaking materials, thought leadership content and leadership visibility programs.

  • Coordinate communications support for leadership events, industry engagements and stakeholder forums.

  • Translate complex business topics into clear and engaging communications.

3. External Communications and Reputation Management

  • Support proactive media relations and thought leadership initiatives across Asia.

  • Draft and develop media materials, key messages and communications content.

  • Support communications related to business milestones, partnerships, acquisitions, product launches and strategic initiatives.

  • Monitor media coverage, stakeholder sentiment and emerging reputational issues.

4. Internal Communications and Employee Engagement

  • Develop and execute communications programs that support employee engagement and organizational alignment.

  • Support communications for leadership announcements, business transformation initiatives and strategic priorities.

  • Manage content for town halls, newsletters and employee communications channels.

  • Help strengthen leadership visibility and employee engagement across Asia.

5. Issues and Crisis Management

  • Support communications planning and response activities for business, operational and reputational issues.

  • Develop key messages, Q&As and communications materials as required.

  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk and business teams to support coordinated communications responses.

  • Maintain preparedness materials and communications processes.

6. Stakeholder and Market Coordination

  • Coordinate communications activities across Asia markets to support alignment and consistency.

  • Partner closely with global Communications colleagues on regional and enterprise priorities.

  • Manage external communications agencies and vendors, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives.

  • Support communications budgets and project management requirements.

7. Measurement and Governance

  • Track communications results and effectiveness against agreed objectives.

  • Monitor media coverage, employee engagement and stakeholder feedback.

  • Ensure communications activities comply with legal, regulatory and corporate governance requirements.

  • Support continuous improvement in communications processes, tools and capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6-10 years of progressive communications experience, ideally within financial services, asset management or a related industry.

  • Strong understanding of corporate communications, media relations, executive communications and employee communications.

  • Experience supporting senior executives and business stakeholders.

  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation communication skills.

  • Strong storytelling, content development and project management capabilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong collaboration, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed and multicultural organization.

  • High level of integrity, judgment and attention to detail.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business or related discipline.
