This individual will play a key role in developing and maintaining team coaching applications across multiple projects. They will focus on frontend development (React), backend/API development (Python/AWS), and provide development support for mobile applications using React Native. This role reports to the Director, Software Engineering.\nSport Performance Lab is a research & development team focused on delivering wins for our professional teams. We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn and able to collaborative within a diverse team.\nPosition Type: 12-month independent contract\nResponsibilities:\nDevelop and maintain web application features using React, adhering to modern DevOps practices and security standards.\nDesign, implement, and support APIs to integrate frontend and backend systems, leveraging Python and AWS services.\nProvide development support for iOS apps using React Native.\nUse AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality, security, and correctness standards.\nAssist with backend development tasks using Python, ensuring stability and performance.\nCollaborate with other teams, such as infrastructure and application engineering, to define metadata layers, technical strategies, and efficient integration across the existing landscape.\nDevelop and implement testing solutions, including automation, to ensure application quality and reliability.\nProvide high-level sizing estimates and contribute to planning and scoping discussions to ensure alignment on technical solutions, project goals, and prioritization.\nContribute to and maintain documentation of engineering best practices, tools, and frameworks.\nQualifications:\nMinimum 3-5 years of experience in full stack development.\nHands-on experience with React for frontend development.\nProficiency in Python for backend and API development.\nFamiliarity with AWS services and their integration into backend systems.\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and sound judgment about when to use it, including review of AI-generated code.\nKnowledge of React Native or a strong interest in learning mobile development is a plus.\nAdvocate of security best practices and micro-service architecture.\nProven ability to take a project from scoping requirements through to product launch.\nStrong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including version control, code reviews, testing, and operations.\nExperience collaborating with backend developers to design and integrate APIs and web services into applications.\nExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively in a team and effectively manage multiple priorities.\nNice-to-haves:\nExperience building Swift apps.\nFamiliarity with tools like Figma, Invision, or Adobe XD for design handoffs.\nExperience with sports data or knowledge of the sports industry.\nInterest in or experience with data visualization techniques or libraries for presenting complex statistics.\nBasic understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.\nPrevious experience working with confidential data or information.\nJob Posting Compensation Range/Rate:\nFreelance Rate\nWe’reglad you’rehere.
