To support this journey, we are looking for an experienced Senior Android Developer who works AI-first: someone who uses AI coding agents as a natural part of their daily workflow, helps the team adopt AI responsibly and effectively, and still stays deeply involved in architecture, coding, code reviews, and SDK development.\nIf you are excited by building robust, scalable mobile SDKs used in real-world environments, and want to help define what modern, AI-augmented engineering looks like in practice, this role offers the opportunity to make a broad and lasting impact on our products, engineering culture, and long-term technology strategy.\nThe Role\nAs a Senior Android SDK Developer, you will be a key contributor to our mobile platform, focused on building and evolving our Android SDKs. You will work closely with other SDK engineers, platform teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to keep our mobile initiatives cohesive, scalable, and well-executed.\nYour influence will extend beyond implementation. You will help shape how our engineering team works with AI, from agentic development workflows to quality standards for AI-generated code, while contributing to architectural decisions, elevating team-wide practices, and supporting an environment where the whole team can succeed.\nWhat You Will Do\nImplement new features in our existing Android SDK, written in Java and Kotlin, using AI coding agents to accelerate delivery without compromising quality\nMaintain and improve the current SDK by fixing bugs and strengthening stability, using AI tools for debugging, test generation, and root-cause analysis\nLead the migration of legacy Java code to modern Kotlin, using AI-assisted refactoring to move faster and more safely\nContribute to new SDK versions, written primarily in Kotlin Multiplatform\nBuild and maintain binding layers that expose the native Android SDK to Flutter and React Native\nOptimise map rendering and performance using Mapbox Maps and/or Google Maps\nHelp define and spread AI-assisted engineering practices across the team, including how we prompt, review, test, and validate AI-generated code\nEvaluate new AI development tools and agents, and share what works (and what doesn’t) with your colleagues\nContribute to SDK capabilities that support AI-driven and spatial intelligence features across our platform\nCollaborate closely with teammates to ensure consistent architecture, shared ownership, and high engineering standards\nWhat You Bring\n8-10 years of professional Android development experience, with deep expertise in Kotlin and Java and experience working within large, complex Android codebases\nHands-on, daily experience with agentic AI development workflows, using tools such as OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI coding agents for code generation, refactoring, debugging, testing, and technical exploration\nA critical, quality-focused mindset toward AI output: you know when to trust it, when to challenge it, and how to review and validate AI-generated code in a production SDK\nStrong Kotlin-Java interoperability expertise, including platform limitations, migration patterns, API design, and best practices for evolving mixed-language codebases\nStrong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to design, debug, refactor, and improve complex systems. UI and application experience is valuable, but the primary focus is architecture, code quality, and technical problem-solving\nHands-on technical leadership experience, leading by example through high-quality code, architectural decisions, and technical ownership while mentoring engineers, including helping them get real value from AI tools\nAbility to drive technical direction and influence engineering standards while remaining deeply involved in implementation and delivery\nKey Skills\nSDK / framework development, rather than app-only development\nAgentic AI workflows and effective use of LLMs across the development lifecycle\nPrompt and context engineering for coding agents (e.g. writing clear specs, providing codebase context, breaking work into agent-friendly tasks)\nModular design and maintainable architectures\nKotlin Coroutines and structured concurrency\nReact Native and Flutter, including both app-side and plugin development\nHands-on experience migrating codebases from Java to Kotlin\nProgramming Languages & Tools\nStrong proficiency in Kotlin and Java\nFamiliarity with Dart (Flutter) and/or TypeScript (React Native) is an advantage\nExperience with Kotlin Multiplatform is appreciated\nExperience with on-device ML (e.g. ML Kit, TensorFlow Lite / LiteRT) is a plus\nDaily tools include Android Studio, Git, Jira, Confluence, and AI coding agents\nWho You Are\nYou are a collaborative engineer who sees AI as a force multiplier, not a shortcut.
