This role will involve developing cost-control systems, monitoring expenses and analysing data from different sources ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.\nMonth end tasks will include the preparation of complex journals to account for costs, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations alongside addressing any cost related queries. To develop good working relationships with Procurement, Market Data, Legal and Account Payable departments and develop an extensive knowledge of Marex’s cost base, helping to drive significant process improvements in the accounting for costs as well as identifying costs in scope of transfer pricing to be recharged to Marex group entities.\nResponsibilities:\nAssist in the preparation of monthly cost accounting journals including complex accruals\nReview and identify accounting and coding errors ensuring expenses are correctly prepaid or amortised\nInvestigate and explain cost variances across the group\nWork closely with Accounts Payable / Product Control / Legal Entity Control teams to identify and create journal entries to account for required cost adjustments\nAssist in addressing cost related queries\nAssist with audit queries during the interim and year end audit\nAssist in developing cost control systems and reconciliations to market data, legal and occupancy platforms\nAssist in the transfer pricing process identifying costs to be recharged across Marex group entities.\nAssist in identifying and delivering process improvements, and drive automation\n\nSkills & Experience:\nExcellent analytical skills with excellent attention to detail\nStrong organisational skills\nExcellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills\nTeamwork, but also ability to work independently\nHigh level of dedication and commitment\nAbility to work well under pressure\nConscientious, self-motivated, resilient and goal oriented\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nExperience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.\nCompetencies:\nQualified accountant\nSkilled in Microsoft applications software; in particular, high level of proficiency in Excel required\nAbility to multi-task, prioritise and meet deadlines\nA collaborative team player, approachable, self-efficient and influences a positive work environment\nDemonstrates curiosity\nResilient in a challenging, fast-paced environment\nExcels at building relationships, networking and influencing others\nIf you’re forging a career in this area and are looking for your next step, get in touch!\nMarex is fully committed to being an inclusive employer and providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment process for all.
