As a Software Engineer at Espy, you will join a lean, agile team buildingstate-of-the-artsystems that deliver critical signals intelligence to government agencies. You will collaborate cross-functionally to design, enhance, andmaintaina high-performance Linux C++ software architecturefor a product thatcaptures high-bandwidth RF signal data and streams it to long-term digital storage. Additionally, you will implement innovative DSP and visualization algorithms,leveragecutting-edgecomputing hardware, and integrate machine learning to help customers navigate complex signal environments.
Core Responsibilities:
Architecture & Development: Design, build, and test high-performance C++ software within a Linux environment across general-purpose and embedded platforms.
Hardware Integration: Partner closely with hardware engineers to integrate software with physical components, ensuring strict alignment with system requirements.
Automation & Scripting: Implement, evaluate, and test automation scripts and tools using Python.
Feature Prioritization: Coordinate with the engineering team, field support, and customers to map out and prioritize new features and critical bug fixes.
Global Deployment: Provide hands-on testing and deployment support to ensure mission success for our global customer base.
Technical Ownership: Overcome technical obstacles independently using sound judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and technical leadership.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
Experience: 10+ years of professional experience designing and implementing software systems using C++ in a Linux environment.
Networking & Scripting: Proficiencywith high-performance TCP/UDP network communications, alongside strong scripting skills in Bash and Python.
Signal Processing: Working knowledge of applied digital signal processing (DSP), including filtering, data transforms, multi-dimensional signal processing, and data visualization.
Core Competencies: Exceptional problem-solving skills, strong verbal/written communication across all organizational levels, and a proventrack recordof managing tasks under tight schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hardware & Data: Experience with signal acquisition hardware (SDRs, digitizers, VITA-49) and high-accuracy timing services (GPS, NTP).
Advanced Tech: Familiarity with Machine Learning, Computer Vision, CUDA, or embedded architectures (ARM, FPGA).
Infrastructure & Tools: Experience with Docker/containerization, databases (MongoDB), modern web stacks (TypeScript, Node.js, React), and management tools (Git, Jira).
Logistics& Clearance: Willingness to travel 2-3 times per year and eligibility for a TS/SCI security clearance.
