You'll work closely with Product and other engineers to solve complex technical problems, shape the architecture of our platform, and deliver secure, scalable solutions for our customers.\nBeyond writing code, you'll mentor other engineers, drive engineering best practices, and help ensure our systems remain secure, reliable, and compliant.\nTech Stack\nJava 25\nSpring Boot 4\nMySQL\nREST APIs\nAWS\nGitHub Actions\nContainers\nSQS\nTerraform\nReact\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, deploy, and maintain Spring Boot services powering our SaaS ecommerce platform.\n\nDesign secure, scalable, and highly available solutions that meet PCIDSSand other security requirements.\n\nDesign and build REST APIs that are intuitive, backwards-compatible, secure, and performant.\n\nCollaborate with Product, QA, and other engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.\n\nDesign and optimize relational database schemas, queries, and data access patterns using MySQL.\n\nParticipate in architectural discussions and help drive technical decisions across the platform.\n\nWrite clean, maintainable, and idiomatic Java using modern language features and engineering best practices.\n\nChampion engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and documentation.\n\nUse AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery, while owning the correctness, security, and maintainability of everything you ship.\n\nTake ownership of features from design through production, including monitoring and operational support.\n\nWork in small, incremental pull requests with a strong emphasis on code reviews, automated testing, and continuous delivery.\n\nHelp evolve our architecture by challenging assumptions and continuously improving how we build software.\n\nMentor and support engineers through technical leadership, design reviews, and pair programming.\n\nTroubleshoot production issues and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nOperated as a senior engineer or technical lead on Java backend applications.\n\nStrong expertise with Spring Boot 3+ and the broader Spring ecosystem.\n\nStrong proficiency with modern Java, with new development targeting Java 25.\n\nAbility to write clean, idiomatic Java using modern language features such as streams, lambda expressions, Optional, records, and pattern matching.\n\nExperience with Hibernate/JPAor jOOQ.\n\nHands-on experience building and operating production workloads on AWS.\n\nProven ability to design and build RESTful APIs.\n\nStrong SQL skills with MySQLor PostgreSQL.\n\nWorking knowledge of asynchronous messaging systems (SQS, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ).\n\nExperience building and deploying containerized applications.\n\nExperience with GitHub Actions or other modern CI/CD platforms.\n\nHands-on experience using AI coding tools in professional work, with sound judgment about when to trust, verify, or discard their output, and a clear understanding of what data must never be shared with them.\n\nSolid understanding of software design principles and distributed systems.\n\nExcellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.\n\nA track record of mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.\n\nSelf-motivated and effective working in a remote-first environment.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience building and operating multi-tenant SaaS applications.\n\nFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and GitOps practices.\n\nHands-on experience deploying and operating AWS services including VPCs, ALBs, EC2, ECS, SQS, and S3.\n\nWorking knowledge of React or Angular.\n\nUnderstanding of payment processing systems, PCIDSS, and security best practices.\n\nBackground in ecommerce, fintech, or payment processing.\n\nFamiliarity with API security concepts including OAuth 2.0, JWT, authentication, authorization, and rate limiting.\n\nExperience with test-driven development (TDD) and modern testing frameworks.\n\nExperience establishing team practices for AI-assisted development (e.g., shared context and conventions files, review standards for AI-generated code, guardrails for sensitive data).\n\nExposure to C#/.NET is a
