The Solution Train Engineer will lead the coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of a complex technical Solution Train within a large-scale Agile and cyber-centric DoD environment. This role is responsible for facilitating Solution Train events, managing the flow of value across multiple Agile Release Trains, coordinating technical dependencies, and ensuring alignment among engineering teams, program leadership, vendors, and external cybersecurity organizations.\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on, highly engaged leader who takes ownership, actively collaborates with stakeholders, understands team needs, and helps remove obstacles to successful delivery. The Solution Train Engineer will also guide and coach Release Train Engineers, Scrum Masters, technical leads, and other stakeholders in Lean-Agile and systems engineering practices.Responsibilities\nFacilitate Solution Train execution and large-scale organizational ceremonies, including:\nPre- and Post-Program Increment Planning\nSolution Demos\nInspect and Adapt events\nValue Stream Syncs\nCross-train planning and coordination sessions\nManage and optimize the flow of value through the Solution Train using enterprise-level tools such as Jira and Confluence.\nCoordinate architectural alignment, technical interdependencies, capabilities, and integration activities across multiple Agile Release Trains and technical suppliers.\nFacilitate collaboration and communication among engineering leads, Product and Program Management Office representatives, vendors, external cybersecurity organizations, and other stakeholders.\nIdentify, track, and resolve cross-team and cross-train impediments, risks, issues, and dependencies.\nMonitor Solution Train performance and provide clear, concise reporting on delivery progress, technical dependencies, risks, and performance metrics.\nDevelop and maintain documentation related to technical requirements, system interdependencies, architectural decisions, program risks, and delivery status.\nSupport the alignment of technical strategy, solution intent, architecture, and implementation activities across the Solution Train.\nPromote transparency and effective information flow across teams, trains, suppliers, and program leadership.\nActively engage with teams to understand their needs, coordinate support, and ensure timely resolution of issues.\nGuide, mentor, and coach technical leads, Release Train Engineers, Scrum Masters, and other Agile leaders in Lean-Agile systems engineering practices.\nSupport continuous improvement across the Solution Train by identifying process improvements, facilitating retrospectives, and implementing actionable improvement plans.\nEnsure Agile practices are appropriately adapted to support the needs of a complex, cyber-focused DoD program environment.\nPartner with program leadership and stakeholders to ensure delivery activities remain aligned with contractual, technical, security, and mission objectives.\nFamiliarity with systems engineering lifecycle processes, technical baseline management, and requirements traceability.\nExperience coaching organizations in Lean-Agile transformation and SAFe implementation.\nQualifications\nActive TS/SCI w/ Polygraph\nBachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.\nMinimum of a Bachelor’s degree with 18 years of relevant experience (OR) Master’s degree with 15 years of relevant experience (OR) High school diploma or associate degree with 20 years of relevant experience\nExperience developing products and/or managing engineering activities in software, systems, or technical development environments.\nDemonstrated experience coordinating complex technical programs involving multiple Agile Release Trains, engineering organizations, or technical suppliers.\nStrong understanding of Agile at scale, particularly the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), in a cyber-centric Department of Defense program environment.\nExperience supporting DoD contracts, military programs, or other government technology initiatives.\nBackground in cybersecurity, cyber operations, information assurance, or related security disciplines.\nExperience facilitating large-scale planning, execution, synchronization, and continuous improvement events.\nExperience using enterprise collaboration and program management tools, including Jira and Confluence.\nStrong communication, facilitation, organization, and stakeholder management skills.\nAbility to work effectively with engineering teams, program leadership, vendors, PMO personnel, and external cybersecurity organizations.\nDemonstrated ability to take ownership, remain actively engaged, and drive issues to resolution.\nCandidates must hold at least one of the following certifications: SAFe Solution Train Engineer (STE), SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), SAFe Practice Consultant SPC)\nExperience with Solution Train leadership and facilitation\nFamiliarity with Lean-Agile and SAFe implementation\nProficiency in Systems engineering and technical integration, Cross-program dependency management, Cybersecurity and DoD program execution\nStrong Stakeholder collaboration and communication skills\nExperience with risk, issue, and impediment management\nStrong technical documentation and reporting\nDemonstrated experience with coaching, mentoring, and organizational leadership\nIdeal candidate will take ownership, initiative, and hands-on engagement in this role\nSalary Range\nUSD $210,000.00 -
