We recommend applying as soon as possible.\nWhat you'll do\nYour key accountabilities will include:\nOwn end-to-end payment platform outcomes across key payment products, ensuring reliability, security, performance and resilience during peak trading periods.\nLead the design and delivery of complex payment capabilities, making high-quality technical decisions that result in secure, scalable and maintainable solutions.\nShape the technical direction and architecture of payment systems, working closely with architects and engineering leaders to align with business and technology strategy.\nDrive engineering excellence through DevOps, automation, operational improvements and incident management, reducing repeat failures and improving service performance.\nMentor and support engineers through coaching, code reviews and knowledge sharing, helping to build strong payment domain expertise across the engineering community.\nWho you are\nYour skills and experience will include:\nStrong software engineering experience with Java preferred, alongside the ability to select the right technologies and approaches for complex business problems.\nDeep expertise operating large-scale cloud-based platforms and high-traffic applications, with experience across Azure (preferred), AWS or GCP.\nStrong understanding of platform engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace or equivalent.\nExperience implementing CI/CD practices and modern DevOps tooling, ideally including GitHub Actions and automated delivery pipelines.\nA passion for engineering quality, testing, mentoring others and driving continuous improvement across teams and platforms.\nOur Tech\nJava\nAzure (preferred), AWS and GCP\nGitHub Actions\nDynatrace\nCI/CD and DevOps toolchains\nCloud infrastructure and platform engineering\nSite Reliability Engineering (SRE)\nCDN, DNS and Edge Computing technologies\nObservability and monitoring platforms\nWhat’s in it for you?\nWorking at M&S means being part of something bigger - helping to deliver quality, value and service to millions of customers every day.
