This role converts customer and market requirements into reliable, manufacturable, standards-compliant solutions while partnering closely with Product Management, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers, and customers.\nEssential Responsibilities\nTransmission Cable Design & Product Development\nLead new product development and sustaining engineering projects for coaxial, twisted-pair, twinaxial, fiber-optic, power, and hybrid cable constructions.\nApply electromagnetic and optical transmission theory to conductor geometry, dielectric systems, shielding, cabling, fiber selection, and termination design.\nDevelop and validate designs through calculations, modeling, prototypes, design reviews, and laboratory testing.\nDocument design assumptions, risks, tolerances, and acceptance criteria.\nDirect product development priorities aligned with business strategy and product roadmaps.\nStandards, Compliance & Qualification\nDesign and qualify products to applicable TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801, SPE, Industrial Ethernet, Telcordia, NEMA, ICEA, UL, and CSA requirements.\nSupport ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems, along with material-compliance obligations including RoHS, REACH, Proposition 65, PFAS, TSCA, CMRT, and EMRT.\nDefine qualification and production test methods, equipment, fixtures, sampling plans, and acceptance criteria.\nReview industry codes and standards and represent MIEI at industry and agency meetings.\nSupport Marmon Electrical businesses in maintaining and developing industry standards.\nManufacturing, Suppliers & the 5Ms\nServe as a subject matter expert in the transmission cable 5Ms:Materials\nManufacturing Methods\nMachines\nMeasurement/Certification\nManpower/Training\n\nPartner with manufacturing facilities and suppliers to resolve material, equipment, process, testing, certification, quality, and performance issues.\nTranslate designs into manufacturable products, including process windows, inspection requirements, and testing criteria.\nSupport root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and CAPEX planning related to product design requirements.\nProject Execution & Systems\nManage projects utilizing Stage-Gate/New Product Development processes and continuous improvement methodologies.\nMaintain accurate product information within CableBuilder, Smartsheet, Axiom, QCBD, ISOVISION, and other company systems.\nEnsure specifications, drawings, test plans, and engineering changes are accurate, traceable, and released on schedule.\nCustomer, Technical & Organizational Support\nProvide technical training related to cable construction and termination principles for internal teams and customers.\nSupport customer troubleshooting, technical reviews, product qualifications, and field issue resolution.\nAssist with R&D planning and budget management aligned with strategic business initiatives.\nThe responsibilities listed above are not intended to be an exhaustive list.
