Fontaine’s long history of providing innovative and custom-engineered solutions in an environment of integrity, customer responsiveness, quality products, and superior workmanship has made us a recognized leader in the industry.\nWe are seeking a Production Engineer who will be responsible for supporting the production team in the design and development of processes and components, including final vehicle CG and driveline calculations. Products range from simple chassis bolt-on items to PTO & hydraulic kits to cab & chassis modifications. Projects must meet time and budget requirements in order to fulfill the requirements of internal and external customers. Each project requires accurate assembly work instructions along with bills of materials, engineering drawings, and calculations as applicable.\nCORE RESPONSIBILITIES:\nProvide production support as necessary, including troubleshooting electrical/diagnostic systems of trucks.\nConsistently focus on process improvements to increase the safety and efficiency of production.\nUtilize proper engineering fundamentals of design and follow standard engineering procedures.\nCreate new designs that meet customer needs and adhere to relevant governmental codes and regulations, including FMVSS/CMVSS.\nEvaluate designs and make recommendations based on safety, function, appearance, and budget.\nSupport FMC sales staff quotations by providing estimates for design time, labor resources, tooling, and material costs to complete projects.\nSKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:\nBS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Mechatronics / equivalent).\nMinimum of 4 years of engineering experience in product design, process development, and manufacturing support. Experience in or related to the commercial truck engineering field is preferred.\nProject management experience including coordination between internal teams, customers, and suppliers.\nSolid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.\nExperience building wiring harnesses/cables and soldering.\nExperience in 3D CAD design-preferably Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or CATIA.\nExperience with CAN communication protocols (SAE J1939 and ISO 11783) a plus.\nExperience related to diagnostics of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in automotive, heavy truck, or off-highway equipment a plus.\nStrong communication skills, both written and verbal.\nDemonstrated flexibility in executing diverse tasks, adapting to shifting priorities, and accepting new challenges and responsibilities.\nAbility to travel up to 20% as required.\n(EOE/AA: M/F/Vets/Disabled)\nFollowing receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processesas permitted or required by applicable law.\nWe are an equal opportunity employer, and all applicants will be considered for employment without attention to their membership in any protected class.
