They are responsible for the guidance, training and oversight of staff within the department and ensures the proper maintenance and availability of all surface and above-surface lifts, chalets and outbuildings, and various tools and equipment. They must ensure open communication is maintained within the department, across the Company, as well as external contacts as required.\nThe incumbent should expect to work both inside as well as outside in all weather conditions.\nThis is a full-time, year-round position consisting of four 10-hour shifts per week (compressed work week).\nAlberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply.\nJob Duties/Responsibilities\nSupervise Journeyperson/Apprentice Millwrights, Electricians, Carpenters and other staff (including seasonal labourers) as required, in the execution of daily assigned duties.\nPerform payroll-related activities; manage scheduling, vacation scheduling, and shift coverage.\nTrain all staff within the L&B Maintenance department and keep training manuals updated.\nKeep records of completed training.\nDevelop new training, safety, and safe workplace procedure manuals and policies as required.\nExemplify and communicate corporate policies, procedures, code of conduct, and culture. \nEnsure preventative maintenance and required repairs are completed to maintain all surface and above-surface lifts, chalets, infrastructure, snowmaking systems, and outbuildings.\nHold or assign an active representative seat on Workplace Health & Safety Committee. \nHold or assign an active participating representative on Staff Committee.\nEnsure preventative maintenance and repairs are completed on Vacusan systems.\nTrain staff on the proper use and maintenance of Vacusan systems.\nProvide preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to ensure a functioning waste treatment system.\nTrain staff on the proper use and maintenance of the waste treatment system.\nPerform preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to ensure a functioning snowmaking system.\nTrain staff on preventative maintenance of all snowmaking system components.\nPerform preventative maintenance, daily testing, and necessary repairs on potable and non-potable water systems, including filtration, chlorination, heat trace, pumps, etc.\nTrain staff on the maintenance and repair of water systems.\nEstimate costs and obtain quotations for projects to be completed internally or contracted out.\nEnsure contractors meet the requirements for working at Marmot Basin and in Jasper National Park.\nPerform regular administrative tasks on behalf of the department and in collaboration with Administration, Finance, Payroll, Human Resources, etc. \nEnsure contractors complete work in a satisfactory manner.\nEnsure maintenance records are kept in accordance with relevant safety codes and insurance provider requirements.\nEnsure all maintenance and construction work, whether performed by staff or contractors, is completed in accordance with relevant building, ski lift, and safety codes.\nEnsure proper maintenance of hand and shop tools and equipment.\nImplement all manufacturer's preventative maintenance schedules, including all testing, oil sampling, and related procedures.\nEnsure all work orders are submitted fully completed and accurate in the details recorded.\nWork directly with Manager & Assistant Supervisor to maintain an on-call schedule for the department. \nEnsure staff are trained in and implement OH&S and RMSI-JTAC safety policies and procedures.\nOrder or delegate the ordering of parts and supplies as required; ensure proper receiving procedures are followed, and invoices/purchase orders are reconciled and delivered to Accounts Payable in a timely manner.\nMaintain an up-to-date ledger and submit periodic variance reports to monitor department expenditures according to annual budget guidelines.\nPrepare annual maintenance cost estimates for the yearly budget and summer maintenance reports, including recommendations and reasons.\nAnswer radios or telephones promptly to ensure open communication with the L&B department.\nPlan inventory counts and ensure minimum spares are always on hand; maintain up-to-date records when audits are scheduled.\nEnsure the shop area is kept clean and organized. Ensure shop tools and materials are returned to their proper locations at the end of jobs or shifts.\nEnsure work vehicles used by the Maintenance Team remain clean and in good working order alongside the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Manager. \nBe responsible for updating and maintaining all procedures and training manuals required within Lift Maintenance.\nUpdate hazard assessments as required.\nWork with the Accommodations Supervisor & HR Manager, when requested, to assist in the maintenance and repair of Marmot-owned or rented staff accommodations.\nAssist in emergency situations as requested.\nPerform all other duties as assigned.\nSupplementary\nRespect and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures as set out in the “Corporate Policies,” “Employee Handbook,” and “Lift and Building Maintenance Training Manuals.”\nUnderstand and adhere to Ski Marmot Basin’s “Harassment Policy” and the company’s “Privacy Policy.”\nQualifications\nJourneyperson (Red Seal) Certification in Millwright, Heavy Duty, or Electrical trade preferred.\nAny other specialized training in hydraulics, electrical, construction, plumbing, etc., is considered an asset.\nRisk management experience.\nProcurement and inventory management experience.\nDemonstrated understanding of essential safety practices and applications to ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations.\nPrevious supervisory experience preferred.\nSki industry or related experience preferred.\nCore Competencies\nProfessional demeanour with excellent customer service skills and experience dealing with all on-hill patrons.\nCheerful, outgoing personality;
