Be part of a company where your work supports a mission that makes a difference-apply today!\nManager, Mechanical Engineering - Electronics Packaging Design\n(PAS)\nJOB SUMMARY OF THE POSITION\nThe Engineering Manager leads day-to-day execution of mechanical design activities supporting ruggedized electronics packaging within the PAS business unit.\nThis role is responsible for team management, program-level execution, and adherence to established Marotta-internal structural, thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC, and IPC Class 3 design standards. Additionally, this role participates in the development and maintenance of mechanical engineering procedures, reference manuals, and design standards.\nReports to: Director, Mechanical Engineering, PAS.\nJOB SPECIFICATION\nScope of Responsibility:\nDirect management of 10+ mechanical engineers.\nProgram-level electronics packaging design execution accountability.\nEnforcement of established design standards and margin policies.\nSupport of design, integration, and qualification activities under Senior Manager/Director oversight.\n Engineering & Technical Leadership\nAssign and manage packaging-engineering design tasks and resources.\nEnsure design compliance with customer/ contractual performance requirements.\nOversee execution of thermal, structural, and vibration/shock analysis.\nOversee ruggedized electronics design (Thermal, structural, CCA, PCB, DFM, etc.).\nEnsure IPC Class 3 mechanical integration practices.\nEnsure EMI shielding and grounding implementation as appropriate.\nEnsure application of environmental sealing techniques as appropriate.\nDrive disciplined execution through gated reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FCA/PCA).\nParticipate and drive closure in failure investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action (FRACAS) activities.\nSupport proposal efforts with credible technical, labor, and schedule inputs and risk assessments.\nMaintain AS9100 compliance and audit readiness within the mechanical discipline.\nSpearhead electronic packaging-related issue resolution.\nEscalate systemic risks appropriately.\nProcess & Standardization:\nEnforce mechanical engineering procedures and documentation controls.\nEnsure AS9100 compliance at team level.\nInstitutionalize lessons learned into formal design guidance.\nImprove repeatability, documentation quality, and configuration control discipline.\nEnsure analysis assumptions and modeling practices are standardized and traceable.Additionally, Participate in development, maintenance, and enforcement of: i. Mechanical engineering procedures and work instructions\nii. Electronics packaging design standards\niii. Engineering design reference manuals\niv. Design review checklists and documentation controls\n\nTeam Development:Conduct performance reviews and development planning.\nMentor and develop mechanical engineers in technical rigor and execution discipline.\nProvide clear performance expectations and structured feedback.\nFoster cross-functional collaboration.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related discipline.\n8+ years aerospace/defense experience.\n3+ years leadership/management experience preferred.\nDemonstrated experience designing electronics packaging for harsh environments (vibration, shock, thermal cycling).Experience with structural, vibration, and shock design.\nExperience with thermal management design (conduction, convection, radiation cooling methods).\nWorking knowledge of IPC Class 3 requirements for CCA/PCB design and manufacturability.\nFamiliarity with EMI shielding, grounding, and environmental sealing techniques.\nFamiliarity with connector selection for aerospace applications.\n\nWorking knowledge of thermal, structural, and vibration analysis principles; familiarity with FEA tools.\nProficiency with 3D CAD systems (PTC Creo preferred).\nWorking knowledge of environmental qualification standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, etc.).\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nMust be a U.S. citizen.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.\nDirect experience with flight-critical control actuation systems and power systems.\nExperience leading programs through environmental qualification and production release.\nActive, or eligible for, U.S. security clearance.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nElectronic assembly designs meet cost, schedule, and technical commitments.\nStrong customer confidence and successful qualification outcomes.\nLate-stage test failures and electronics-packaging-related rework are reduced.\nEngineering documentation is complete, controlled, and audit-ready.\nEffective collaboration between design, integration, and production teams.\nTeam members demonstrate growth in technical depth and execution quality.\nPay Range: $132,000 - $165,00 per year\nThis position is at our Parsippany, NJ office location.\nMany of our contracts require proof that you are a U.S. citizen and/or that an export license has been obtained for employees who are citizens of certain countries.
