Be part of a company where your work supports a mission that makes a difference-apply today!\nSenior Development Engineer\nOverview:\nThe Development Engineer leads the development, integration, and verification of flight-critical control actuation systems and power systems, including power supplies, power distribution units (PDUs), control electronics, and actuation drive systems. This role has full accountability for integration execution, and qualification testing, overseeing a multi-discipline test organization that spans development, integration, and formal qualification testing.\nThe position manages test engineers, integration-focused test technicians, and qualification test technicians, ensuring efficient transition from early development hardware through system qualification and customer acceptance in compliance with aerospace and defense standards. The team will document the test results and in general collaborate with the design engineers to ensure the designs meet specified requirements and program goals. The team will support internal and external development and qualification test activities and manage the required laboratory facilities and equipment.\nEducation / Experience:\n5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (Aerospace preferred) \nExperience in mechanical and/or electronic laboratory work in a design and development engineering environment \nExperience with Aerospace testing standards such as MIL-STD-810 and/or RTCA-DO-160 is highly desirable \nBachelor’s degree in mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Systems Engineering is preferred, Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, or technical certification in a related field is preferred. Mechanical aptitude gained through other experience will be considered \nThorough understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical principles \nAttentive to detail and ability to understand and follow work instructions \nGood oral and written English skills \nHigh proficiency in MS Office Suite \nAble to use and work with schematic diagrams and engineering drawings \nPosition requires a detail-oriented individual who must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. \nBill of material requisitioning \nLead lab management and 6S events \nLead a multi-project lab environment \nReview and approve test procedures and reports \nFamiliar with AS9100 and ISO standards helpful \nThis position may require up to 40% travel to local and non-local sites \nAdditional Duties / Responsibilities: \nSeek and document Lean ideas to improve efficiency and reduce costs \nTrack inventory of all tools and equipment \nProcure new, rent, or repair instruments and equipment to ensure adequate supply for all development programs and active production programs \nKeep workstation clean and free of unnecessary debris \nCompliance with and enforcement of ESD rules and procedures\nWill be required to perform other job duties as requested, directed or assigned \nExcellent organizational skills with focus on detail \nComplete assigned jobs with minimal/no supervision \nFoster a positive, cooperative and safe work environment through effective communication at all levels of the Marotta organization \nActively participates in team meetings, root cause investigations, troubleshooting activities (as req’d), continuous improvement initiatives/programs, etc. to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives/goals/vision \nEffectively communicate issues in a timely manner to all affected parties internal to the Marotta Organization \nAbide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance with various regulatory and internal system requirements \nMust be able to travel with overnight stays to support off site test activities \nExperience in military/aerospace a plus \nMust be able to work occasional overtime/weekends \nJob Specification:\nEssential job functions and responsibilities:\nEngineering & Technical Leadership\nProvide technical leadership for control actuation systems and power systems, ensuring robust, flight-worthy designs \nAct as technical authority for integration and test strategy, trade studies, and risk mitigation \nEnsure alignment between design engineering, systems engineering, and development/test organizations \nDrive disciplined execution through gated reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FCA/PCA) \nTest Engineering (Plans, Procedures & Strategy)\nResponsible for developing: \nIntegration and verification strategies \nTest plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria \nAutomated test solutions and data analysis methods \nEnsure requirements traceability from system requirements to verification methods \nReview and approve test documentation for technical rigor and compliance \nProgram Execution & Customer Interface\nSupport proposals, technical risk assessments, and program planning \nServe as primary interface for integration and test activities with customers and certification authorities \nLead Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), qualification status reviews, and customer audits \nEnsure integration and test execution meets cost, schedule, and performance commitments \nCross-Functional Collaboration\nPartner with Systems and Design Engineering to ensure verification completeness and safety compliance \nCollaborating with Manufacturing Engineering on DFM/DFT and production test strategies \nWork with Quality, Safety, and Configuration Management to support audits and certifications \nSupport transition from development through production and sustainment \nWork Environment:\nPosition entails exposure to typical manufacturing (i.e. Machine Shop, Assembly, Testing, etc.) environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required). \nContinual repetitive use of hands and arms \nWe offer a highly competitive compensation package for this outstanding position plus a quarterly bonus along with a full range of top quality benefits and employee services including: medical, prescription, dental, vision, life and disability income insurance programs, 401k retirement plans with company match, generous tuition aid program, paid vacation, sick and personal days, paid holidays and flexible work hours with compressed work week options.
