You will build enterprise APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, REST, and GraphQL.\nYou will collaborate with product owners, architects, engineering teams, QA, DevOps, security, and platform teams to deliver resilient backend capabilities that integrate with enterprise systems, authentication platforms, customer data services, and third-party applications.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, high-performance backend services and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, or similar technologies.\nDesign and build RESTful and GraphQL APIs for web, mobile, partner, and enterprise integrations.\nArchitect cloud-native and distributed systems with a focus on scalability, resiliency, cache, security, and performance.\nIntegrate services with enterprise APIs, databases, authentication platforms, messaging systems, and third-party services.\nDesign and support event-driven and asynchronous integrations using APIs, events, queues, and messaging.\nParticipate in architecture reviews, technical design, code reviews, and technology evaluations, while mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices.\nDevelop automated tests and contribute to CI/CD, cloud deployments, monitoring, logging, and operational readiness.\nTroubleshoot complex production issues across APIs, microservices, databases, integrations, and cloud infrastructure.\nParticipate in Agile/Scrum planning, estimation, refinement, and continuous improvement.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.\n8+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years of hands-on backend development.\nStrong experience with Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, or comparable enterprise backend technologies.\nStrong experience designing RESTful/GraphQL APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.\nExperience with relational/NoSQL databases, caching, and enterprise integration patterns.\nExperience building cloud-native applications using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.\nStrong understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, scalability, resiliency, and performance.\nExperience with automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and production troubleshooting.\nStrong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Spring Security, Spring Data, Node.js, TypeScript, and GraphQL.\nExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, NGINX, and cloud-native deployment patterns.\nExperience implementing resiliency patterns such as retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and graceful degradation.\nFamiliarity with Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Harness, Dynatrace, and similar DevOps and observability tools.\nExperience with API performance optimization, distributed systems, and production-scale applications.\nAt Marriott International, we are dedicated to being an equal opportunity employer, welcoming all and providing access to opportunity.
