Working as a member of a shift team, the primary role of an Operator is to demonstrate ownership and responsibility for a set of machines, pieces of equipment and/ or processes within their working area. This includes carrying out the routine operational tasks required to achieve area targets e.g. starting-up, shutting-down, monitoring, cleaning, and carrying out basic changeovers, minor repairs, routine checks , reporting and inspections, and the use of basic ancillary equipment and computer programs.\nThe Extruder Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and set up of all extruding, drying, and coating equipment to meet or exceed daily production requirements, while maintaining safety and Mars quality standards. The Extruder Operator Is also responsible to actively contribute to a culture of excellence.\nWhat are we looking for?\nMinimum:\nMust Speak Fluent English, and Spanish preferred\nMinimum: High School diploma, or equivalent.\nPreferred: Associates degree, or higher, in an engineering or manufacturing related discipline.\nRelated Experience/Requirements:\nPreferred:\nTwo (2) or more years of experience in a food related manufacturing environment with automated processes, including HMI. Experience in a lean manufacturing environment or equivalent is preferred.\nKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:\nMinimum: Medium: math, communications, computer, and problem-solving skills.\nPreferred: Strong: math, communication, computer, and problem-solving skills.\nExperience in a TPM environment.\nPhysical Requirements:\nFrequent pushing, pulling, dumping and rolling of Pallets (25-105 kgs)\nFrequent clean out of extruders, dryers and conveyor systems using specialized tools\nFrequent lifting/carrying of materials\nFrequent standing\nFrequent use of moving of skids using a pallet jack or forklift\nFrequent walking\nFrequent reaching, pushing, and pulling\nFrequent stooping and bending\nWhat will be your key responsibilities?\nResponsible for the safe and efficient operation and set up of all extruding, drying, and coating equipment to meet or exceed daily production requirements.\nMust observe proper Lockout/Tagout and all safety procedures as required\nMust be able to operate and control extruders, so that all food safety temperatures and gelatinization requirements are met.\nProficient in completing all required food safety/quality checks and understand the consequences of out of compliance.\nReport or take appropriate action when food safety/quality checks do not meet set specifications such as, temperature, kibble size, moisture, density, color, texture, or foreign materials.\nMonitor running efficiency of processing equipment including downtime, through-put and food safety requirements.\nAbility to read and understand the daily production run schedule and execute to that plan.\nClearly communicate any disruptions to production plan, quality failures or issues, equipment downtime and material deficiencies\nMaintain functional knowledge of all equipment in processing area.\nAccountable for day to day running of extruder in line with global standards & monitoring regimes\n Accountable for the performance of several machines, processes, or pieces of equipment - by following good hygiene practices & manufacturing practices.\nImmediately reporting downtime to Supervisor, Maintenance or Quality Assurance when downtime cannot be corrected by the operator.\nFacilitate good communication and planning with other leads and operators to ensure that changeovers are done timely and effectively, optimization of production lines, quality checks are being performed, schedules are achieved with little downtime, waste is reduced or managed effectively.\n\nEscalate issues as appropriate, give full and accurate verbal and written handover\nWhat can you expect from Mars?
