This position works closely with Operations, Maintenance, E&I, AMTs, and other technical resources to identify equipment issues, restore equipment to operation, and prevent repeat failures.\nThe Shift Maintenance Technician is expected to safely perform work independently, communicate equipment conditions clearly, complete assigned scheduled work, and properly document maintenance activities within eMaint.\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment.\nTroubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment failures and identify root causes when possible.\nDiagnose and repair motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, pumps, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, valves, sensors, and other industrial equipment.\nSafely troubleshoot electrical systems including 480 VAC and 24 VDC systems within the technician's training and qualifications.\nRespond to production equipment breakdowns and work with Operations to safely return equipment to service.\nComplete scheduled PMs and corrective work assigned to the shift.\nIdentify defects during PMs and inspections and create or communicate appropriate follow-up work.\nUtilize predictive and condition-based maintenance techniques when applicable.\nAccurately document troubleshooting, repairs, findings, parts used, and work completed in eMaint.\nCommunicate equipment status, incomplete work, and follow-up needs through the established shift handover process.\nWork collaboratively with E&I technicians when controls or specialized electrical troubleshooting is required.\nSupport equipment improvements and reliability initiatives by identifying recurring failures and improvement opportunities.\nFollow all Mars/Royal Canin Safety, Quality, Food Safety, and maintenance procedures.\nMaintain tools and work areas in a clean and organized condition.\nOperate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment when properly trained and certified.\nParticipate in training and continued technical development.\nSupport shutdowns, equipment installations, and other maintenance activities as required.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nStrong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.\nWorking knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including 480 VAC and 24 VDC control circuits.\nUnderstanding of pneumatics and hydraulics.\nAbility to troubleshoot equipment systematically rather than relying solely on component replacement.\nAbility to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.\nAbility to use meters and other maintenance diagnostic tools safely and effectively.\nBasic understanding of predictive maintenance principles and equipment condition monitoring.\nAbility to use computerized maintenance management systems such as eMaint.\nStrong communication and teamwork skills.\nAbility to work independently and make sound decisions during equipment failures.\nAbility to prioritize work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nWillingness to learn new equipment, technologies, and maintenance practices.\nEducation & Experience\nPreferred:\nTechnical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent industrial maintenance training.\nPrevious industrial maintenance or manufacturing maintenance experience.\nExperience troubleshooting mechanical and industrial electrical systems.\nEquivalent combinations of education, technical training, and relevant maintenance experience may be considered.\nPhysical Requirements\nThe associate must be able to:\nFrequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in industrial equipment areas.\nSafely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.\nWork from ladders, platforms, and elevated work areas when required.\nWork around operating manufacturing equipment and in varying environmental conditions.\nWear required personal protective equipment.\nPerform physical maintenance activities for extended periods as required.\nRole Expectations\nSuccess in this position requires more than technical ability.
