This full-time role combines day-to-day technical ownership with people leadership for a team of 4 engineers. The manager will be responsible for cloud operations, server administration, incident resolution, change management, problem management, patching, monitoring, and security compliance in a regulated environment, while setting priorities, coaching team members, and driving operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on AWS experience, proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server administration, and the ability to independently own a portfolio of work and projects from defining the approach through execution, while collaborating with internal and vendor teams to maintain reliable operations and drive continuous improvement.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead and manage a team of 4 cloud operations engineers, including work allocation, coaching, development and performance management.\nParticipate in a rotating weekly on-call schedule.\nSupport audit activities by gathering findings and creating and providing documentation in accordance with audit requirements.\nIndependently own a portfolio of work and projects, from defining the approach through execution.\nIdentify, propose and implement cost-optimization improvements.\nIdentify and implement operational improvements, including automation and process refinement where appropriate.\nCreate and maintain comprehensive documentation for all configurations and procedures, and ensure the team follows documentation standards.\nWork with cross-functional teams and vendor teams to coordinate fixes, maintenance and escalations.\nMaintain compliance with security and operational standards, including administrative account control, patch status, services and logging.\nSupport incident management, root cause analysis and problem resolution within SLA expectations.\nProvide technical leadership for troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues involving compute, storage, networking, DNS, IAM and application connectivity.\nPerform and oversee patching, upgrades, maintenance and routine operational tasks through approved change management processes.\nMonitor the health, performance and utilization of the AWS GovCloud environments, respond to alerts and escalate issues as appropriate.\nSet team priorities and coordinate operational workload across incidents, service requests, maintenance activities and project work.\nRemain hands-on in supporting the deployment, configuration and management of AWS GovCloud infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, etc.).\nRequired Qualifications:\nHands-on experience supporting AWS environments.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively on routine tasks and projects.\nStrong problem-solving and the ability to learn quickly.\nStrong communication and documentation skills.\nAbility to troubleshoot technical issues across infrastructure and application layers.\nFamiliarity with security and compliance controls in a regulated environment.\nAbility to balance hands-on technical delivery with people leadership, prioritization and team support.\nExperience leading or managing a small technical operations or infrastructure team.\nSolid understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure concepts, including compute, storage, networking, security groups, DNS and IAM.\nProficiency in Windows and/or Linux server administration.\nMust be a US citizen. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience supporting regulated, government, or highly controlled cloud environments.\nPrevious experience mentoring, coaching and developing engineers.\nPrevious experience working on a geographically dispersed team.\nDemonstrated ability to improve operational stability, efficiency and resilience over time.\nExperience in FEDRAMP/GovRamp.\nExperience using AI tools to enhance productivity and support scripting, troubleshooting, and documentation.\nExperience using Agile tools to plan, track, and manage operational work.\nExperience with ITIL-based incident, change, and problem management processes.\nAWS certification or equivalent cloud credentials.\nFamiliarity with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch and basic log analysis.\nScripting or automation experience.\nPrevious audit experience, including gathering findings and creating and providing documentation in accordance with audit requirements.\nWhy join our team:\nWe help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.\nOur scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.\nWe foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients, and communities.\nMarsh (NYSE: MRSH) is a global leader in risk, reinsurance and capital, people and investments, and management consulting, advising clients in 130 countries.
