They’re busy implementing cutting-edge cloud-based technology, ensuring technological evolution, compliance, security and excellent customer service are consistently met.\nIt’s within this dedicated team at Marshalls that we’re recruiting for a Senior SQL Database Administrator who will act as the internal owner for the Marshalls SQL server estate and subject matter expert to stakeholders across IT and the wider business.\n\nSo, what’s the mission?\nWorking closely with an outsourced Managed Service Provider (MSP), the role will provide technical leadership, governance, service assurance, and strategic and operational direction for all SQL database platforms supporting business-critical applications.\nYou will retain ownership of platform performance, resilience, security, compliance, supplier management, and technical roadmaps to ensure database services align with the needs of the business.\nAct as the technical owner of the SQL Server estate, ensuring database services are secure, resilient, high-performing, and compliant across all environments. \nLead and manage the relationship with our Managed Service Provider (MSP), challenging technical recommendations and driving service excellence against agreed SLAs and KPIs. \nProvide technical oversight and assurance for database upgrades, migrations, security patching, high availability solutions, and disaster recovery activities. \nDevelop and maintain the database platform roadmap, identifying opportunities for optimisation, automation, and modernisation to support business transformation. \nMonitor service performance, availability, and capacity, driving root cause analysis and long-term improvements for major incidents and recurring issues. \nEnsure database security and compliance standards are maintained, including access governance, vulnerability remediation, and audit support. \nPartner with project teams and business stakeholders, providing database expertise for new solutions, ERP initiatives, data analytics, integrations, and complex technical challenges. \n\nWhat are the mission-critical skills?\nSignificant experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments. \nStrong understanding of \nSQL Server architecture \nHigh Availability and Disaster Recovery \nPerformance tuning \nSecurity and compliance \nDatabase lifecycle management \nExperience working with outsourced managed service providers and governing third-party technical services. \nStrong understanding of ITIL service management principles. \nExperience supporting business-critical production systems. \nExcellent stakeholder management skills. \nDesirable\nExperience supporting Dynamics 365 or ERP platforms. \nExperience within manufacturing or industrial environments. \nKnowledge of, Azure SQL, Azure Data Services, Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence platforms \nExperience managing technology suppliers and service contracts. \nExposure to cloud migrations and platform modernisation programmes. \nWhat's in it for you?\nHybrid working, with two days a week at our Head Office in Elland \n26 days' holiday plus bank holidays \nGuaranteed Christmas shutdown \nHealthcare Cash Plan, helping towards dental, optical, prescriptions and much more \nEnhanced family leave policies, available from day one \n5% employer matched pension scheme \nOngoing learning and development opportunities \nCycle to Work scheme \nEmployee discounts on Marshalls and Marley products \nDiscounts with hundreds of leading retailers \nAccess to the Marshalls Wellbeing Centre, supporting your Move, Money and Mind goals \nShare Purchase Scheme \nLife Assurance \nEqual Opportunities\nWhoever you are and whatever your background, you'll find a fair and supportive workplace at Marshalls.
