We are looking for a Simulation Software Engineer to build and own our high-performance testing infrastructure.\nThis is a multi-faceted role offering end-to-end ownership of the full simulation pipeline.\nYou will integrate our physics models into modern simulation ecosystems (such as Unreal Engine 5 or NVIDIA Omniverse / Isaac Sim) to build high-fidelity test environments. Working closely with our Robotics, Perception, Aero, and Data engineers, you will architect the backend infrastructure required to run automated large-scale cloud testing and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) pipelines.\nYour core objective is to drastically accelerate our development cycles, ensuring our hardware\nand software are continuously validated before a vehicle ever leaves the ground.\nKey Responsibilities\nBuild and maintain photorealistic virtual environments, owning the architectural choice and execution across engines like Unreal Engine 5 or NVIDIA Omniverse / Isaac Sim.\nUse modern techniques like NeRFs and Gaussian Splatting (based on real flight test footage) to create 1-to-1 digital twins of our test sites.\nWork directly with the Perception team to simulate complex thermal/IR sensors and automate synthetic data generation (SDG) pipelines.\nContainerize the simulation (Docker) and build the backend infrastructure for cloud deployment, enabling the Data/ML and Aero teams to run thousands of headless, multi-agent scenarios simultaneously.\nWork closely with the Robotics Engineering team to connect the simulation to real hardware configurations (HIL), ensuring the sim runs against actual flight controllers to validate sensor-to-actuator latency.\nCollaborate with the Aero engineer to seamlessly ingest flight dynamics physics models (FDM) into the simulation engine without compromising execution speed.\nDevelop frontend UI tools for the engineering team to visualize telemetry, scrub through data replays, and visually debug complex intercept failures.\nRequired Experience\nStrong modern C++ and Python programming skills.\nProduction experience with advanced simulation or real-time 3D engines at a systems/graphics programming level (e.g., NVIDIA Omniverse / Isaac Sim, Unreal Engine, O3DE, Unity, or custom renderers).\nDeep understanding of ROS 2 and DDS architectures, including cross-architecture deployability and strict QoS timing constraints.\nFamiliarity with High-Performance Computing (HPC), NVIDIA GPU acceleration, and hardware optimization (e.g., CUDA, TensorRT).\nNative fluency in Linux, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines-you know how to deploy and scale headless simulations unattended.\nExperience building or supporting Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) / Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) benches.\nPreferred Skills\nExperience with 3D modeling tools (like Blender) to rapidly generate or modify target assets for the Perception team.\nSpecific experience with NVIDIA Replicator or other automated synthetic data generation frameworks.\nBackground in autonomous vehicles, aerospace, robotics, or motorsport simulation.\nFamiliarity with bridging external physics solvers (MATLAB/Simulink, JSBSim) into real-time environments.\nAttributes & Mindset\nAnalytical, practical, and comfortable solving complex technical problems.\nAble to balance simulation fidelity with development speed and engineering need.\nComfortable working across software, simulation infrastructure, and physical-system behavior.\nCurious and data-driven, with a focus on using simulation to improve real-world system performance.\nAdaptable & Resilient: Stays calm and focused under pressure, adapting their approach as challenges arise.\nProactive, collaborative, and comfortable working with multiple engineering disciplines in a small, tight-knit team.\nSecurity and Eligibility Requirement\nDue to the nature of the work with the UK MOD, applicants must be a British Citizen (or Dual UK national with British citizenship) and eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)\nGeneral Information\nWe believe in the value of working together in person and expect team members to be office-based for the majority of the working week. At the same time, we take a flexible pragmatic approach to working patterns, including start and finish times and remote working, to support a healthy work-life balance while meeting the needs of the team and project.\nWe are committed to building an inclusive and diverse team where everyone is treated with respect and has the opportunity to contribute and succeed. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are focused on creating a working environment where different perspectives, experiences and ideas are valued","description_format":"text","description_chars":4966,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Artificial Intelligence","Information Technology","IoT Platforms & Solutions"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-10T00:28:42Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":14,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.388,"p_room":0.35,"age_days":57,"expected_fill_days":20,"reasons":["conf:2","win:tail"],"computed_at":"2026-10-13T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/marss-uk-simulation-software-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/marss-uk-simulation-software-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-13T11:20:16Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":17470,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-14T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2490548},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2490548"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fmarss-uk-simulation-software-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fmarss-uk-simulation-software-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fmarss-uk-simulation-software-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/marss-uk-simulation-software-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fmarss-uk-simulation-software-engineer"}]}
