The Lab Infrastructure Services Technician is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the MBE product labs. The person in this position is expected to have a deep understanding of data center management, automation, custom application development, hardware debugging, PCB rework, and lab infrastructure support for MBE Engineering labs.

What You Can Expect

This position's primary focus, will be to support MBE R&D labs located in Santa Clara. Product labs support building, enhancing, and maintaining highly available infrastructure.

Ability to work independently or as a team on repetitive physical tasks without direct supervision after initial on-the-job training on tasks as outlined below:

• Install, configure, and maintain lab-specific hardware and software applications and tools used by research teams.
• Perform PCB board-level debugging, rework, component replacement, soldering/desoldering, and hardware verification activities.
• Support mechanical socket installation, repair, alignment, and fixing for server and validation platforms.
• Perform board bring-up, hardware validation, and functional verification of engineering samples and prototype systems.
• Document HW setups, rework procedures, troubleshooting steps, and best practices for knowledge sharing and reference.
• Removal of end-of-life hardware from engineering labs.
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).
• Proficiency in Linux and Windows server administration and troubleshooting.
• Assist in asset and HW components inventory management (GLPI) and develop custom reports.
• Test HW boards, server components, cables, sockets, and associated peripherals.
• Troubleshoot power distribution unit (PDU), networking, and hardware-related issues.
• Work with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and other standard lab diagnostic equipment.
• Should be flexible to work with remote teams in India to debug any lab-related issues.
• General housekeeping and maintenance of engineering labs.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What We're Looking For

• A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in an engineering lab environment

• Strong hands-on experience with fine-pitch soldering, BGA rework, connector replacement, and SMT component rework.
• Experience using soldering stations, hot air rework stations, microscopes, and rework tools for board-level repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, board layouts, assembly drawings, and hardware documentation.
• Familiarity with PCB failure analysis, signal tracing, continuity testing, and hardware diagnostics.
• Experience performing hardware modifications, jumper rework, trace cuts, and patch wire implementations as required for engineering validation.
• Knowledge of ESD handling procedures and safe lab practices while working with sensitive electronic components.
• Experience supporting prototype boards, engineering samples, and pre-production hardware platforms.
• Ability to identify and replace damaged sockets, connectors, resistors, capacitors, and IC components on server or embedded boards.
• Familiarity with IPC standards and electronic assembly/rework best practices is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail while performing precision rework and hardware verification tasks.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation of board modifications, rework activities, and validation results.
• Experience working closely with hardware design, validation, and manufacturing teams to resolve board-related issues.

• Experience with standard lab equipment (e.g., racks, test bed benches, switches, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies).
• In-depth knowledge of System/OS-level TCP/IP networking is a must.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work inside a data center environment.
• Must be able to rack-mount servers and connect required cabling.
• Must be able to work extended hours inside a data center environment.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

24 - 37, $ per hour.

The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions.The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.

This role is eligible to participate in Marvell's bonus and equity plans, including potential eligibility for annual equity refreshers, ensuring you are rewarded for your contributions and remain invested in the company's long-term success
