This role will work with other members of the technical innovation team to develop innovative products and services. Starting with deep consumer and installer understanding, this role must drive the exploration, research, and development of new technologies and capabilities to support the realization of the business vision and strategy. This role has a significant influence on the business’s future success.\nSpecifically in this role:\nParticipate in a culture of continuous learning.\nDemonstrate agile, flexible, and autonomous innovative exploration, even if outside their area of expertise.\nSupport and develop vital processes to facilitate technical exploration, scouting, and testing.\nWork with and help seek out partners for internal and external business and strategy leads to ensure the technical capabilities are in alignment to deliver business goals.\nMaintain curiosity, objectivity, and discipline during the process of development and take responsibility for the quality of the outcome.\nResponsibilities:\nParticipate in and contribute to the Innovation Pipeline including ideation, exploration, and definition. Seek out and maintain relationships with individuals in other development and sustaining areas of the business to ensure consistency and facilitate information transfer.\nHelp create new decision maker solutions through the development of products and systems. Responsibilities include designing and iterating groundbreaking products and services, developing new technologies to enable business opportunities, and working with outside vendors to facilitate efforts.\nWork with external and internal entities on interpretation of codes and standards and remain up to date on existing internal and external standards. Lead the selection of components, materials and processes that enable solutions.\nDefine and execute plans to implement large scale complicated projects that will often have conflicting requirements and significant undefined parameters.\nTake on design responsibility for new products and platforms and help disseminate new learnings to the rest of the organization. Work closely with other technicians and engineers to build prototypes, develop specifications, and facilitate technology transfers. Work closely with marketing and brand representatives to interrupt, refine, and improve product specifications to maximum consumer benefit and minimize cost and time to market.\nParticipate and grow external innovation partnerships to augment learning and expedite market tests, including help defining when to build, borrow, or buy new capabilities.\nMetrics:\nKey project milestone attainment\nRobust and efficient product design capabilities\nP - disclosures, applications and right to use\nExpense budget compliance\n Education and Experience:\n4-year bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related STEM field 10+ years of design and/or systems engineering experience in a technical capacity.\nNeed to be able to confidently interact with experienced peers and have the background to make informed decisions.\nExperience with challenging projects and familiarity with product development processes. Must have experience in multiple aspects of design and execution.\nPatent inventorship, published scientific work, and/or IP development experience is a plus.\nExperience with computer aided design and analysis tools, Creo preferred.\nFamiliarity with various prototyping processes, including 3D printing, and production manufacturing, including injection molding, casting, machining, stamping, and assembly. Experience with cost modeling.\nExperience with Quality Management Systems, DFMEA, GD&T, and Design of Experiments.\nFamiliarity with Six Sigma or similar systems a plus.\nWillingness to stretch into different disciplines, including material science and electromechanical design, and the specification of electronics/firmware design.\nExperience with regulatory constraints, including codes, standards (external and internal), and legal regulations.\nAbility to assist in marketing claim development is a plus.\nDemonstrated ability to partner with a broad multi-functional teams with diverse skills.\nAble to support multiple complex projects at one time and prioritize work and resources according to potential impact.\nWhy Join Us?\nAt Delta Faucet Company, our people are our greatest assets.
