have the right to work here.\nTo lead the safe, compliant and commercially disciplined delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from financial close through construction, commissioning and handover to Asset Management.\nThe Project Manager is fully accountable for programme, cost, quality, contractual compliance and grid integration, managing EPC, BoP, BESS OEM, ICP and key subcontractors to ensure successful delivery in accordance with Masdar governance, UK regulatory frameworks and project-specific performance requirements.\nThe role operates within Masdar’s centralised BESS Delivery vertical and contributes to continuous improvement of governance, procurement strategy, and delivery standards across the portfolio.\nResponsibilities\nProject Delivery & Construction Management\nLead end-to-end delivery of assigned BESS project(s) through construction and commissioning.\nAct as Client Representative under EPC / BoP contracts.\nEnsure compliance with programme, technical specifications, Employer’s Requirements and grid connection agreements.\nManage Principal Contractor performance under CDM Regulations.\nCoordinate civil, electrical BoP, HV, BESS integrator and ICP interfaces.\nProactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.\nEscalate critical issues with defined recovery plans.\nCommercial & Contract Management\nAdminister EPC/BoP/BESS contracts in accordance with Delegation of Authority.\nReview and challenge contractor applications for payment.\nAssess variations, compensation events and claims.\nMonitor contingency drawdown and forecast final cost.\nProtect Masdar’s commercial position at all times.\nProgramme & Risk Control\nMaintain detailed oversight of baseline vs actual programme.\nEnsure critical path protection and recovery strategies where required.\nImplement structured risk registers with RAG status.\nCoordinate early warning mechanisms with contractors.\nEngineering & Technical Integration\nOversee detailed design development and technical compliance.\nManage integration of:BESS containers and PCS\n33kV/132kV substations\nGrid transformers\nProtection & control schemes\nSCADA, communications and cyber security requirements\n\nEnsure grid code compliance and witness FAT/SAT where required.\nCommissioning & Handover\nOversee commissioning strategy and energisation readiness.\nEnsure structured interface with Asset Management.\nValidate performance testing and contractual guarantees.\nSecure complete and compliant handover documentation.\nGovernance & Reporting\nProduce structured monthly reports covering:Programme\nCommercial status\nRisk\nHSE\nKey decisions required\n\nEnsure compliance with internal Masdar governance, audit and procurement processes\nContribute to continuous improvement of BESS Delivery standards.\nQHSE & Regulatory Compliance\nEnsure compliance with:UK CDM Regulations\nGrid operator requirements\nEnvironmental and planning conditions\nMasdar QHSE standards\n\nPromote a strong safety culture across all project activities.\n Preferred Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.\nAPM PMQ / PRINCE2 / equivalent desirable.\nSMSTS or equivalent construction qualification preferred.\nPreferred Experience:\n5-10 years’ experience delivering utility-scale energy infrastructure.\nDirect experience in:\nBESS projects\nHV substations (33kV-132kV+)\nEPC contract administration\nGrid-connected assets\nExperience working under UK CDM regulations.\nStrong exposure to electrical BoP and OEM integration.\nJob-Specific Skills:\nStrong commercial acumen.\nAdvanced programme management capability.\nAbility to
