This role will provide independent validation, exception monitoring, and follow-up closure of outstanding reconciliation items. It will serve as the 1.5 Line of Defense, with an enterprise-wide mandate covering all reconciliation types (manual, semi-automated, automated) and platforms including TLM. The role ensures that reconciliation quality and closure processes are consistently applied and monitored, with clear escalation mechanisms.3\nDimensions\nScope of work\nOversight of enterprise-wide reconciliation proofing, covering:\n\nNostro/Vostro\n\nInter-branch accounts\n\nSundry & suspense GLs\n\nInternal accounts\n\nVAT reconciliation\n\nIndependent review of reconciliation breaks across all platforms (automated/manual\n\nEscalation and closure follow-up of breaks beyond T+3 days (auto) / agreed timelines (manual)\n\nThematic reviews, exception trend reporting, and root cause analysis\n\nService Level Management Track adherence to reconciliation closure timelines (T+3, etc.)\n\nMaintain performance dashboards with metrics across divisions and platforms\n\nSet up QA KPIs aligned with ERF and Group Operations KRIs\n\nEstablish early warning triggers for high-risk or aging items\n\nQuality Review\nMonthly quality assurance sampling of reconciled items\n\nTracking accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of proofing controls\n\nRaising exceptions to the CRU head and relevant BU operations for resolution\n\nConducting periodic health-checks aligned with audit and GRC guidelines\nKey Interfaces\nInternal: CRU head, Ops unit heads, Finance (CAD), Technology, Risk, Compliance\n\nExternal: Audit (Internal & External), Regulators (for proofing expectations), IBG Ops Heads\n\nRepresent in Operations GRC Risk Councils, FROC and other governance forums\n\n4\nKey Result Areas\n% of reconciliations reviewed as part of QA plan per quarter across all account categories\nReduction in aged unreconciled items (>180 and >360 days).\nReduction in outstanding >T+3 items across platforms\n% adherence to reconciliation policy and internal controls.\nNo. of thematic issues identified and resolved via QA testing\nTimely and accurate reconciliation attestation and proofing validations.\nPlatform enhancements delivered and automated rules adoption.\nSLA adherence across business units and international/overseas branches.\nSuccessful internal audit and risk reviews with minimal or no observations.\nQuality of audit feedback for proofing-related controls\nNo overdue proofing validations.\n5\nOperating Environment, Framework and Boundaries, Working Relationships\nOperates independently from the CRU but in close coordination\nEnterprise-wide scope across Group Operations and Business Units\nCovers both UAE and international operations including Egypt, Pakistan, India, and IBG branches\nMaintains reporting line into GRC - not embedded within the CRU to preserve independent assurance role\nAligned with ERF governance manual, APPM, ORM Guidelines and reporting templates.\nWorks within a cross-functional, multi-country environment.\nExpected to define and enforce centralized standards and controls while balancing local branch needs.\nWorks with constrained resources in a transformation phase and must effectively build team capacity.\nWorking Relationships\nDirectly interfaces with:\nHead of CRU and his leadership team \nMatrix relationships with - Audit, Risk, Compliance, CAD & Tax teams\nOperations GRC leads in Egypt, India, Pakistan\n6\nProblem Solving\nRecommend remediation plans for recurring proofing issues.\n\nDiagnose systemic control weaknesses across reconciliation processes and recommend design enhancements.\n\nAddress recurring break trends and implement data-driven remediation plans across business and product lines.\n\nResolve conflicts or accountability gaps between Operations, Finance, and Technology teams on account ownership and reconciliation execution.\n\nMitigate regulatory and audit risks related to unreconciled balances by ensuring preventive and detective controls are in place.\n\nIdentify pattern-based failures or non-adherence to reconciliation SLAs\n\nDrive cross-functional resolution forums for persistent items\n\nChallenge ownership decisions or business rationales where reconciliation breaks are not justified\n\n7\nDecision Making Authority & Responsibility\nEscalate aging/unjustified open items directly to Head of OpEx & GRC or Head of Central Accounts.\n\nRecommend suspension of automated recon processes if persistent QA failures occur\n\nApprove monthly QA plans and thematic review scope\n\nRaise and track Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) jointly with Operations heads.\n\nApprove or Reject proofing certifications.\n\n8\nKnowledge, Skills and Experience\nKnowledge:\nReconciliation platforms: Smart Stream / TLM, and other tools. \nOperations risk, controls, and audit methodology\nRegulatory reporting and reconciliation governance\n\nSkills:\nStrong analytical and root cause analysis capabilities\nExcellent stakeholder
